Hey guys wanted to start a debate kind of, to learn more info. Right now tuned by Lund on 93. FBO 10r80 setup.
-
Given their are many tuners, PD, shoemaker (left PB to start his own) Ortiz and Wengerd.
-
planning boost but really wanted to know who can make my car the fastest as it sits. Is Lund truly the best option?

Lund does good if they care, the problem is they don't care unless you are a big name.

I've dealt with 2 tuners that have been personally recommended to me (1 is very big) and they couldn't get me a base tune on a bolt on e85 cam car (they aren't on your list).

Everyone recommends the tuner they use, sponsored with, or selling. Makes it very hard to get any real feedback. 90% of the people getting tuned don't care or know enough to even tell a good tune from a bad tune.

If you are wanting fastest as is (93 fbo) then Lund is probably pretty close and its probably not worth it to pay the money to switch. Lots of the fast n/a guys on facebook with the gen3 and 10r80 swear by tricky but I've also heard negative things. Sorry not any good info, good luck with the tuner search haha.

They all turn the same screws inside the PCM, especially on a pretty tame NA setup (no head work, no cams, stock compression, etc) using 93 octane. The engine is severely knock limited on pump gas, so it can only take so much cylinder pressure before it knocks.

If I were looking for a tuner with your setup I’d focus on drivability since it can only make so much power on pump gas.

If you like what you have, then there’s no reason to switch especially if you’re planning to put a supercharger or turbochargers on the car.

I have had Wengerd on both my Mustangs and both cars are/were fantastic. My previous was a 10 speed and his trans tune is fantastic, worth the price of admission by itself :) ....

I just wish we could get e85 in Canada from the pump -_-

Even over Lund’s transmission tuning?

Why do you say that?
Several reasons… his customer service is top notch, his response times are fast, his tunes are spot on and the 10R80 tuning is great. No shift flares, down shifts are very crisp and smooth, and shift points are where they need to be.

I have never had Lund. But wengerd is fantastic. It made the shift points so much better and accurate. I have heard nothing but horror stories about Lund so they weren't even on my radar. PBD as well.

Of The five tuners I’ve used, four of them were good and all about the same. The noticeable “wow” factor was there when I loaded the Wengerd tune with E85.
