But that's not convenient at all, the whole purpose of the proximity sensor is to avoid having to handle your fob or phone
I suggested it to ensure the proximity sensor is at fault, not as a primary and efficient way.

Thanks any help would be appreciated. Hate going to the dealer
I was able to fix my issue. I actually had two issues. First was with the trunk not opening when the car was locked. The second was intelligent access for both doors to unlock...and I'm assuming the trunk fall under that same category now based on what I uncovered.

Keep in mind I just recently upgraded to a digital dash...buried within the settings>advanced settings is an enable intelligent access option. HOWEVER, this option was not initially present once I converted to the digital dash. I had to enable this option using Forscan. Check to see if you have "enable intelligent access" if the trunk is failing to open with the pushbutton (when locked) AND the doors are not unlocking by grabbing the door handle. If this is the case, I can walk you or anyone else on how to enable this option using Forscan...real simple actually.

FORScan software is free for the first month and the adapter is only $15-20 depending on which one you buy

My experience…worked exactly as it should for the past two years...car locked and once I get close with key FOB, I can press the trunk release button and it opens with the car locked.

However, I swapped to a digital dash a couple weeks back. Now, same story as OP. I have to unlock the car to open the trunk. What this is telling me is there is ABD which requires to be changed to make this work correctly. As someone stated earlier, I'm betting the OP ABD is incorrectly configured.

Aged Blind Disabled. What?

Intelligent access was enabled. I turned it off and then back on. Locked car, and I still cannot open the trunk with fob in pocket.

Please keep in mind that this would only work if you do NOT have the "intelligent access" option within your settings>advanced settings. Again, my issue was two fold...trunk not opening with the pushbutton AND handle unlock of the doors (key FOB present of course). This was due to "intelligent access" not being present in my list of advanced settings...once the option was enabled via forscan, I then could actually turn "intelligent access" on and off thereby permitting both the trunk release button and door handle unlock. If you do have "intelligent access" present, as BimmerDriver noted above, my fix won't work.

I'm convinced that due to the complexity of ABD coupled with the vast array of car options that on occasion, things might not be enabled via software from the factory. I've already seen how some cars with magneride + digital dash, do not have the magneride icon present while some do. I found what ABD value needs to be changed to enable the icon. The trunk issue could be one in the same...something within ABD not configured correctly from Ford for some cars.

How easy is to learn this. I'm interested . Would you be able to guide me?
