I keep a pretty close eye on my car in regard to damage. I just washed it Monday night. At that time, what I'm going to share wasn't visible.

I just went out to my car, noticed a spot of bird crap and when I went to get the bottle of detail spray/cloth out of the trunk I noticed that right above the G there was a half-circle the size of a dime. Another odd shape over the top of the T. Then I looked at the badge from the side/surface and it looks like the G is beginning to peel away from the surface. I could press it down a solid 2-3 millimeters.

Has anyone else seen anything like this?

It hasn't been impacted or pressure put on it. I'm thinking that if it is peeling away, the change in pressure could have caused those shapes.

I'll snap a pic of it when I get out of work.

Thanks

Well they're not glued on (at least not on 15-16). There's plastic rivets that hold it onto the decklid. One of those probably broke off.

I'll have to check it out. Is this a common problem that they warranty without issue?

Thanks

I've never heard of anyone having that issue, but then again, there's a lot of weird crap going on with these cars.

Called a new Ford dealer for this issue since the last service dept at another dealer turned out to be a royal clusterfuck.

Immediately the new service/body shop mentioned it needs to be determined if it's covered under warranty. It's 3 months old and wasn't touched! But this time I have the regional service manager's number and she knows how pissed the last place got me.

We'll see what they say tomorrow afternoon!

Thanks for letting me know that there's such a position as a regional service manager. I need to contact them ASAP about my dealer.

Absolutely, glad it helped!

They won't necessarily rip the worker/manager a new asshole....at least not that I know of. But they do have the power to fix whatever the service dept is screwing up....and then some. I wasn't looking for my palm to be greased but as part of her apology she threw me a 3yr/45k maintenance plan that covers all my oil changes, brakes, shocks, clutch, etc....for free.

I have to go to the shop who re-painted my trunk and bumper tomorrow in the AM. If the outcome of that isn't satisfactory, I will be contacting that regional service manager.

Went to one of the local Ford dealer collision centers. He told me it was actually a service job because it'll be a part replacement. Was very nice, fast and easy to work with unlike the last place I went to.

$1k and it'll be 1/6th of an hour to do the job!

He looked at me and hesitated before saying he was going to run it by someone higher up than he was for approval like I was fixin to pay for it out of pocket!

He then said it was bubbling which they do see in older cars but not ones this new. So he said the approval shouldn't be a problem because it's clearly a defect.

But we'll see what happens.
