Modern car airboxes and induction systems are much more efficient than they were 10 years ago. The stock airbox isnt a restriction at basic 'bolt-on mods' power levels, and is 100% a true cold air intake. It is completely sealed from the engine bay, is insulated to prevent heat soak, and draws air from outside the car in a high pressure area.

Drop in a high flow filter, if you are feeling spendy add in an induction tube, and take your 10ish whp and look for power elsewhere.
LOL,
I'd be pleasantly surprised if there were a 10ish whp gain with a filter and induction tube.
I'm not going to change the air box, just go with a K&N filter. And an induction tube like you have. And then figure out where to go in the opposite direction.
AFAIK there isn't any bolt ons that make big power gains with bolt ons, just small steps. The biggest motor gain from an external add on I experienced was from long tube headers. When I went to a cam then things changed.
I guess things like a lower temp thermostat, lower resistance coil wires, hotter coils, p & p T.B., Maf delete, intake swap, etc don't count for much anymore.

Intake manifold and headers are the two main bolt ons that will net serious gains.

Here is a link to a comparison of the three different ford performance power packs - starting on page three. Here is shows the before and after dyno with a drop in filter. The entire article is quite detailed and offers some insight on what mods do to the car, and how it affects the powerband. Its a good read if you havent seen it already. :ford:

"The K&N drop-in panel filter picked up 7.37whp at 6,500rpm and 7.28lb-ft of torque at 4,000rpm. The K&N air filter filled in the stock Mustang’s factory torque dip between 4,000-5,400rpm with an average increase of 12whp and a maximum gain of 19.14whp and 18.61lb-ft of torque at 5,400rpm."

Hi dgc333,
My Camaro has a custom hood with a scoop that seals tightly against the opening of the air box. Call it Ram Air
That is pretty much what the stock Mustang air box is but instead of a scoop on the hood it is a scoop behind the grill on the driver's side, since that is a high pressure area, it's ram air too.

Wow !
Thank you for the link. Question I have is, is the 2018 motor a completely different animal then the 2017 ? I appreciate everyone's patience with me since I don't know much about Ford motors

LOL,
The G.M. Ram Air title was for Pontiac Transams. I ran that way until I installed the CAI system and found more seat of the pants power. So I blocked off the scoop
Then I figured more is better. So I reopened up the the scoop to the air box, thinking the forced ram air would push the cold air into T.B. faster and harder.
Big mistake. I ended up with the motor breaking up mid track.
The only thing I could figure was too much turbulence going on, and a lean condition.
These cars came with Maf sensor signals. But I deleted that and ran on Speed Density

I think the Op is looking for a bit more than our stock airbox can flow. Someone probably has come up with something a bit better than cutting the honeycomb and adding hiflow filter but if you wish to remain stock looking it is a nice mod. Did mine last fall and seems to really bring in the upper rpms a quicker. Dont forget the "quicker throttle" mod too!

Now that I think I have the intake covered let me n move on to th next question.
Is the throttle a drive by wire or drive by cable
Also is the motor run by a Maf sensor or is it Speed Density ?

like bj stang said. airaid / mishimoto elbow, velossa tech ram air and a good panel filter (green, afe, etc..) will be hard to beat. no tuning required as well.

I think everyone is forgetting that he is getting a 2018 and with the front end changes and lower hood these recommendations might not work on the 18 until these company tweak things to fit the 18's
