Yes i do agree with as ur mods list grows the filter and tube can play a factor in hp numbers,my thing is next year i plan to procharge my car and have to change the intake anyway. But like i stated before jlt does make a quality product and its made in the usa.I just wanted to hear other opinions on cai's.With you being tuned and the price of the two intakes being the same. The decision factor comes down to if you want a enclosed box or a larger tube/filter.
Things to keep in mind, yes our MAF housing is larger thus requiring a tune. However our filter is significant larger then the size of most of the competition, more surface area to pull from allows the filter to be less of a restriction in the system.
As your mod list grows to headers, intake manifold swap, cams? You won't have to worry about if your stock sized intake tube is a restriction. No one likes to buy parts twice
You'll find a majority of the racers in the coyote stock, factory stock classes run our intake. I got an email last week from Charlie Rankin (Black Betty Foxbody) a guy who borrowed a JLT intake from a competitor to make a pass and picked up 2mph over the C&L that was on it. Fastest the car has ever been.
