Im assuming this is a temperature sensor for the TR3160? Cant find any info on it. This is the noncooled version.

What type of sensor is this? Any specs on the sensor? Wanting to add an external gauge. This is a Mach-1 with the trans cooler for that TR3160. This port on mine is wide open without any plug.

The sensor that ford uses is similar, if not the same, as the one they use for rear-end temp. It doesn’t go into the fluid itself. The copper end on the sensor just makes contact with the aluminum at the bottom of the hole (if that makes sense) usually there is a connector in the factory wiring for it even if it is not used. It might be difficult to incorporate a custom gage.

Thanks for the info. Yes noticed this exact type of temp sensor on the diff. I guess the method is the case temp should be similar to fluid temp.
But this method would take alittle longer to heat up and normalize the entire casing when the fluid temp could spike.
I seek ā€œactual real-timeā€ temp of the fluid hitting the gears. Too nerdy for Ford I guess. 🧐
Another method is to intercept the cooling lines going to the cooler but much more to disconnect and fabricate.

Guess the old school ā€œstick a sensor in fluidā€ is too old school these days. Don’t even have engine oil temp on this 2021. šŸ˜…
I’m not giving up. I want this number. (Oil, Trans, Diff)
