So I’ll start by saying I’m new to Mustangs (2021 Mach 1) and new on a manual. Today I backed out of my garage and I had to pull forward after backing out and then reverse again for a few feet so I could pull out my driveway. When I tried to put it in reverse the second time it simply wouldn’t let me. It was like there was a barrier stopping me from entering reverse. I went into neutral, released the clutch, reengaged the clutch, then I could go into reverse properly. Was what I experienced normal? Is this the reverse lockout feature? It’s happened twice while doing the same exact thing. I’ll also say that I’ve put it in reverse multiple times with no issue. Thank you.

Did it not let you move the shifter further to the left than the first/second line?
Or did it not let you push the shifter forwards once it was far enough to the left?
In the former case it's the reverse lockout. In the latter it's the reverse gear synchronizer. But since the car is practically new, a bad synchro is highly unlikely. Maybe you were moving too fast and didn't give it enough time to do its job?
