Interesting, maybe that's what happened with my car. I had winter tires/wheels installed and the shop put in the '14 sensors. I watched them try to program one wheel and they said they were getting an error, they didn't even try the other wheels.

So, the plan was to just drive without working sensors until they could get the '15 sensors.

I noticed right away the sensors seemed to be working, but not accurate. As soon as I got home I checked all the wheel pressures versus the display and they were all wrong by a lot. The shop seemed to put random unmeasured pressure in the tires, one was at 44, the lowest was 30. I'm not impressed by that quality of work, but they did surprise me by actually using a torque wrench on the lugs.

Over the next 50 miles or so the pressure display kept going down until I got a TPMS warning, eventually the display just showed -- for each wheel. I did check the pressure my self and they were fine.

Some time later, I'm not sure how many miles, it started working again and seems to be correct.

How long is it supposed to take to automatically program?
No idea how long it takes, I just randomly noticed mine worked. At first I didn't have time to program them, later I noticed they already worked :D

Ford is back ordered on the S550 tpms until About April, even though I have some on rush its still going to take time.

We have checked and the S197 sensors work on the S550 properly no issues have come up so far with any member thats rocking sets through us.

Received an email today from cjponyparts that the sensors are on backorder, so they don't have them in stock either. I am just going to drop my car off Monday to have the rims and tires put on without sensors for now and get them installed at a later date.

Not sure if you missed all the posts about the OEM Ford 2014 sensors working on the 2015 Mustangs..You can get them from American Muscle for only $39.99 each. Got them on my car, couldn't be happier!

That's pretty much what I did because they weren't available at the time. So my car is running a winter set without sensors. Going to buy a new pair whenever I get the chance and just like ronnies_mustang_5o said the older gen ones work on the 15 and are available on AM's website.

Ill just wait til the new style is available, like the stem on them, along with the real time updating. Not a big deal, was just hoping that someone actually had them in stock before I got everything mounted up.

This warning from CJ for the TPMS concerns me:

"*Valve Stems are not designed for speeds over 155 mph."

I run at an annual 1 mile drag event and reach these speeds +.

Should we be concerned or is this like a generic "beverage is hot" type warning?

It's for safety. They've been like this since Ford went to the valve stem TPMS from the band in the 2007-2009.

A fast spinning wheel has forces acting on it. Above a certain speed the forces could cause the TPMS sensor to fail (centripetal forces pushing outward), which is part of the valve stem, and thus your tire to go flat. TPMS rubber stems are banned at a lot of races- I'm pretty sure they require metal stems

Instant tire failure at 155mph+ equals bad accident and liability.

The 2014's were governed at 155; 2015 is 164. Presumably 2015 TPMS are built to handle the higher speed.
