Looking to buy set of TPMS sensors for my 2nd set of wheels - do I need just the sensors or do I need that programming device I see offered as a set with sensors too ?

Yup ordered new rims and tires with TPMS installed. Mounted them and the car read them right away without the programming tool. It's been over a month and no lights or issues.

I mounted my new wheels/tires last weekend, and after about 50 miles of driving on them I now get the "Tire Pressure Sensor Fault" message when I start the car. Oddly, it actually read the pressures correctly without any error messages during those first 50 miles.

Looking around on other Ford forums, it seems like the system will read the new sensors without issue. However, some cars are just more finicky than others (a relatively small percentage require the tool to synchronize the sensors to the system).

I guess I'm going to have to buy the tool to fix it.

Why cant the factory tpms sensors be reused,is it because they wont fit the new wheels?

They can, except I have 2nd set of wheels (summer/winter, bought OEM optional 19's) and I want them in both.

CJ Pony Parts state the tool is necessary to "learn" the new sensors to the car. In my experience as long as you have the correct TPMS sensor the tool was not needed but his is a new system and I just want to be sure.

So, you guys are saying you do NOT need the tool when buying the sensors for the 2015?

Thanks,
Jaime

Like mentioned.. some cars ready them fine, others are finicky. I would skip the tool, and if you get a TPMS code, then run it by a Discount Tire store. They will sync it up for you. Only takes 2mins.

TPMS code will not affect the way the car operates.

Just to update the thread - received finally 4 sensors from CJ Pony, had the mounted on a new set of wheels (optional 19" OEMs) with new tires and it seems to be working just fine.

I had to take mine to the dealer after installing my new wheels/sensors. They worked at first but then I started getting TPMS errors. It took him about 5 minutes and they did it for free.
