I put a set of 2019 PP1 wheels with 2019 TMPS sensors on my 2017 GT and they synced up after one drive. No input needed on my end.
Hello All,
This is where I messed up at. I purchased the motorcraft tpms off amazon and didn't program it before installing into the wheel. Just tires was going to charge me 80.00 for programming and installing in the wheel. I thought all I had to do was let them install the valve and sensor and I would use my Ford relearn tool. Well all 3 tires relearn with the beep of the horn except the new one. So I have to go back and have the sensor removed and programmed so it will relearn like the other 3 tires . Does this sound right? I was hoping that the tpms sensor could be programmed on the tire but I was told that it cant. Thank everyone for their responses.

They will generally pick up without reprogramming, but you need the tool if they don't. If for some reason you have one that doesn't pickup (and the other 3 are fine), and won't re-calibrate using the toll, then there are pretty much 3 possibilities:
1. It's not there and they just put a standard valve stem in (unlikely, unless you took it to some off brand tire shop who hasn't worked on a car with TPMS)
2. It's damaged (could have happened during the mount/dismount process, or possibly the shipping process)
3. Battery is dead.

They are programmed when on the car after installation, not before.
Ok so should I buy that autel program tool?

For me, I purchased TPMS and at first they would not learn into my 2019 PP2. If you have the tool that is great. If not, you can just let air out of the tire until the horn honks.

The car seems to have two different modes. In one, it seems to only be able to Reassociate sensors it already learned. The other will learn new sensors in.

To put the car into learning mode, if I recall, press the start button once without pressing clutch or brake. Next press the brake once and release. Now press the start button 3 times ending with the start button lit. Press the brake once and release. Next press the start 3 times or until the horn honks. The display will indicate it is in learning mode and will begin with the left front tire and go clockwise around the car. Using the tool, place it next to the tire where the valve it and press the button. If you do not have a tool, let air out. Continue until you hear the horn honk once. If you ever hear it twice, it failed.

Hope it works for you too. This is how I learned in my winter set. Worse case I messed this up. You can search for posts by me as I have posted the process before.

I had to program the sensors on my aftermarket tires and wheels as they would not program on their own no matter how far I drove. I used the method that @Fly2High mentions above with the combination of the start button and the brake to enter into learning mode. You can certainly program them while inside the tire/wheel, just ensure that the tool is next to the valve stem on the tire/wheel you are trying to program.

Good luck!

On my 2018, press the power button, toggle the emergency switch three times, the horn honks, the dash display says proceed to left front wheel for training, use the Motorcraft training fob at each wheel valve stem going clockwise, a honk at each wheel confirms a good link, and you are done in 2 minutes tops.

Anyone have their TPMS read incorrectly?

The ones I got are reading about 2 psi higher than reality. I used a gauge that with the original sensors were spot on. The car’s display shows about 2 psi high.
