Just installed a Ford Performance Tow Hook. However I didnt like two things about it. 1) loss of back up light and, 2) the open space behind and to the sides of the tow hook area showing the underside of the bumper cover. So I added a back up light and repurposed the back up light housing. Look closely at the last three photos the first overall photo is without the housing. The last two is with the modified housing. (Dont mind the wires hanging from the bottom of the next to last photo At the time of the photo I didnt have the lights hooked up. It is now complete). And now the front tow hook.

If anyone wants to go this route I can provide a step by step on the lights and modifications to the backup housing so that you dont copy the same small mistakes I did.

Can that contraption really withstand the almost 2 tons of Mustang??? Looks really crappy to me, and the end result too, especially coming from Ford. It should look OEM. No way I'd put that thing on my car, but at least there's an option now. Thank you for posting the photos.

The hook is bolted into the crashbar in three places. Two bolts go thru the crash from the horizontal direction and the third bolt from the vertical direction. It is as solid as the crash bar itself . As far as fit into the reverse light area I would agree that Ford left it very naked. That is what it was trying too close up and still retain the reverse lights.

Yes, please. I just purchased 2 of these. Can this be accomplished without removing the rear bumper? TIA

bumpers and crash bar must be removed and the crash bar drilled. dont worry isnt not that bad. I had them removed within 45 mins from the time I removed the rear wheels. Just follow the instruction provided by Ford. Please note the the crash bars are harden steel and will take a harden bit and remember to keep the drill straight. If you have access to a drill press it will prove to be very desirable. PM me for the directions for the back up housing mod.
