Gonna have to call bs on the mileage claims. I left my house a 3:30am drove the first 220 miles without having to touch the brake once. Took me 5 hours to drive 340 to Atlanta at 75 mph. 21.5 was my mpg. Unless you are going slower, there is no way you get better than 22 mpg on a GT W/PP and the 3.73 gears.

Okie dokie Smokie. Believe what you want. Makes no difference to me. It was hand verified by me. I have zero reason to lie. I burn 93 octane as well.

Im curious about gears in the GT Auto.

This car gets up to highway speed so fast, sometimes in 2nd gear. How are you guys in 5th or 6th gear in the auto for highway cruising? Are you using the paddles to put it into that?
AT with 3.15s will go like 70 mph in 2nd gear. If you are in Drive, it heads for 6th as soon as you let off on the gas and cruise. If you are in Sport, it holds the gear you are in, anticipating you might be slowing for a corner and wanting to accelerate out.

In any case, yes, the AT is in high gear as soon as it can be, like 1400 RPM in 6th. If you accelerate, it drops one to three gears so it can accelerate hard. A manual obviously doesn't do that. So you have to shift for yourself, or suffer the lack of acceleration that comes with a cruising gear.

No perfect solution, I suppose, but my growing appreciation for having the car anticipate this need was a large part in my ordering the AT, for the first time ever in seven Mustangs. No regrets.

Not sure about the S550 vs S197 as far as mpg goes, but my 2013 GT brembo M6/3.73 car would get around 24-24.5mph all highway driving averaging 75-80mph. My 2015 has done a best of 26.8mpg average cruising 70mph, but its auto with 3.15's

My auto with 3.55 has plenty of power to accelerate from 55 to 80 while is 6th. Now it's no where near as powerful if I shift down to 5th or 4th. I have yet to drop lower on the highway at that speed during break in. I baby Eleanor:cheers:

Weather radar is pretty sweet. Actually shows your location and weather around you.

If I'm cruising at 75 on the highway, I'm not dropping a gear to accelerate.

Your comments are welcome, but if you are just here to flame. Move on to the next forum.
Ummm. It's pretty much how all manual cars are on the highway... By shorter gears if you're too lazy to downshift on the highway.

I was thinking about that after I posted. I will try that and even the track mode. On the highway I did switch the steering mode to comfortable, which had a good feel. On a long trip like this I was pleased with the overall performance, but I guess with the 3.73 gears the as advertised mpg is not attainable.
Because you're driving 75mph! I believe mpg for cars is tested at 55mph and you have 3.73. I don't understand all the people whining about the smallest things with their cars!

It all depends on how you drive. It's absolutely possible.

The auto with 3.15 gear accelerates fine at highway speeds without the need for a downshift. The Altima 3.5 has a fine engine but I do not believe car for car neither down shifting it would be faster than a 5.0. You can vary the ratio slightly but over drive is over drive. So our factors are over drive ratio, rear gear ratio, horse power and weight. Altima V6 are not light vehicles and horse power is around 270, so whats really going on?
