You will need a DR if you want any hope for traction before 3rd gear. I run 555r but I still spin those through 2nd unless I'm rolling into the throttle. Also depends on the mileage you are expecting to get. 555Rs will last a few season if you try to track them. If you won't drive in the rain I'd go with something sticker like a NOT05r but those won't last more than 2 seasons.
I've run the 555r before and am familiar with them and if caught in the rain its not a life or death car ride like the MT SS or other DRs. I use MT SS at the track but dont like them on the road as they wear out way too fast and shitty wet traction except when brand new.

What about Michelin pilot super sports? They cost more than the 555r. Are they worth it?

Keltymd, spinning at 60 mph, yeah I'm familiar with that too. Lol

Ok so im in need of some help from current FI guys. Ive read plenty and can't quite make a decision on what route to go so I figured id get some feedback from everyone on here. I have a Gen 3 Stage 2 Whipple and the McLeod RST/steel flywheel w their line on order from Beefcake. I don't want to switch out wheels at the moment so I want to keep the 19X9.5 PP in the rear. I don't trust the MT82 to last for too long so ill be keeping the 3.73 in the diff because I plan on moving over to the Magnum XL once it blows and just have McLeod rebuild the clutch for the XL.

I think my initial approach right now is to just switch out the rear tires and eventually move them to the front and then go with something a bit wider in the rear but not right now. I know width isn't everything which is why I don't want anything less than a 35 sidewall. I will be running the Whipple calibration at first then moving over the a Fore Level 2 on E85 so I'm really trying to think a couple steps ahead for this build. Im open to all kinds of feedback on the entire setup but posting here because tires are the current question. I don't think anything wider than a 285 on the 9.5 would really work but I'm open to any feedback and insight you guys have. My current mods are in my signature so...try not to flame me too bad lol

A 285/35R19 on the PP 19X9.5 is my current idea but can't decide on tire.
hey man, I have the 555r on my 03 VMP cobra. Granted it's not my daily but it's got 607whp/558trq and the tire does pretty well. At 40mph I can spin them in 2nd but it hooks once they turn a little. That car has zero sophistication in the suspension set up compared to the newer cars too and it has a lot of low end torque. That should be ok for you. I have accidently driven in the rain in them too and it was fine but I was worried. Nothing squirelly happened and that was going 65mph down the interstate from MO to TX for I'd say 20 miles in the rain. Nothing heavy. Tires have I'd say 3k on them and still have lots of tread left. I know I'll get at least 10k out of them and I don't drive it easy usually. It's going to be a tough decision for you between going for that, a Toyo R tire and a MPSS or the MSP4 or whatever it's called. Not familier with that yet.

On a side note, I'm in North Fort Worth (Saginaw new area by Kroger), I'd love to see your car sometime and get a ride if I can? I

I planning on getting back into a Coyote soon. I had a 2012 with bolt ons that went 12.3 and then went into a Fusion b/c I needed to change it up and try a quiet commuter but I miss the noise of the catless GT500s sometimes and planning on getting either a newer 2018 with a whipple, or a 15-17 and putting a new VMP on it. Let me know and I'd be happy to get the Cobra out
