I run mt et streetr in 305 when i have my smaller pully e85 tune all summer. Last 2 seasons before the tire is balled up and destroyed. With that said it can hold power w no traction control when tire is new on the street. Thia is w a 9psi hit going to 12 at rl. Not a whipple but similar. Thia is very impractical and expensive. Thats why i got a tire machiene lol.... once the temps are 40s in the am they come off and the stockers go on. if i get to use my regular wheels ita only for a few weeks since its a nono w cold and summer tires. My mazdaspeed came w summer tires and i dailyed it and guess what. The winter came and the tires corded after they started to crack. They were slippery but i had mt et streets on that car to. Its a great tire. 420 a pop but a great tire...

One thing OP did not say, what do you want the tires for? Daily? Daily with some weekend fun? Just weekend fun? And is your "fun" driving track/road course or drag strip? There are TONS of good DR's out there that are from 250ish to over 450 a tire that can get you some good results for both street and strip. On my Whipple truck, I run Azuro AZ850 DR's on all 4 corners and they hook great on the strip and on the street are good as well when I air them up from the track, BUT, if it rains, you need to slow down and be more careful. They wear pretty good too. I ran a new set on 2025 SICKWEEK and put them on, on test day and kept them on all week, running the track 5 days in a row and driving almost a 1000 miles between tracks those 5 days and they worked great on Florida roads. 22lbs at the track and 36 lbs on the street drives. Now that is for a 5400 lb truck.

On the Mustang I use MT ET Street R's for the track ONLY. They are just too soft for street use but you can if you have $$ to blow! They are soft and wear pretty easily on the street and are not made for rain, but they are DOT legal. I run Conti's on the car when not using the MT's on the rear at the track.

So-what is your use? That should factor in for what you select IMO. Any car with a blower can light up tires depending on what tires you use and where you use them.

I highly recommend getting a second set of rear wheels and putting your drag radials on those.

Those are the stock Pirelli tires, which anyone who has had them on their cars knows, suck as bad as the 555 G2s. Anything below 40 and the rubber hardens and becomes useless. We are talking about the AO52's that NightMare mentioned. Yokohama says they can be driven in much colder temps. However, as I stated earlier, the driver needs to use caution.

It really isn't this difficult.

I've done it with Indy 500s and Conti ecs02. If you think that it's like driving on ice, then you have never driven on ice or driven summer tires in the winter. If you don't have experience doing so then I will dismiss your argument. LOL OEM came off day 4 of ownership.
Agree.

I have driven my procharged 2016 GT w/ECS02 tires in sub 32F temps. Zero issues as long as I drove conservatively. Now if there is snow or ice on the ground....hell no.

You're leaving out the part of 'when they are properly warmed up'

Pull out of your driveway on A052's and they are going to be every bit as slippery as any other max performance summer tire.

You guys keep prefacing 'as long as your careful'...because summer tires suck in the cold.

Nobody's trying to drag race on 30 degree roads. You're still way better off on an all-season. What if a bus full of kids pulls out in front of you?

Then you push the pedal to the left of the gas pedal. Again....this is not difficult. Conti ECS02's work just fine in the cold. As I stated before, would I drive on them in the ice or snow? No. I have 3 other vehicles for that.

So an all season won't panic stop better than a ECS in freezing temps? I think you're missing my point here.

Ok.....if we ever see sub 32 temps in Oklahoma again I will put on my Potenza RE71RS tires on, mount my Go Pro 360 and take some videos of how well they CAN be in cold temps, as long as you aren't a dumbass. I'll post it to my youtube page and be sure to tag you.

Show me where I said that. I have been saying that the ECS02, or even a 200TW tire CAN BE USED in cold temps. Are they ideal? No. But if driven correctly, they can be used.

You are being a troll. Nothing more. That's why Nightmare called you a dick.

I'm not being a troll. If you're out on summer tires in freezing temps you're not going to stop well. What if you got in an accident because of that?

You can 'drive carefully' or whatever you want but if some idiot pulls in front of you, it's all up to physics.

You can drive on them. But why would you?

Nightmare doesn't even have a Whipple car and brought up 200tw tires in the freezing weather...

No, @NightmareMoon has a Voodoo swapped GT that probably puts out almost as much power as a supercharged car.

Good thing tirerack said I can use the AO52's in temps down to 14 degrees. That should keep my attorney happy if that happens. Again, here is the link to that fact.

Let's quote him then:

Below 3500-4k, torque and Voodoo dont even belong in the same sentance. Its barely starting to wake up around then.

How much torque do you think a Whipple car makes at 3500rpm?

Also, what Voodoo swap is making as much power as a supercharged car?

Again...when they are properly warmed up.

The page you linked to also says:

Like all Extreme Performance Summer tires, the ADVAN A052 is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures,

Is that just boilerplate from TireRack.com? Maybe

I get that they are better than other 200TW tires in the cold (maybe one of the only ones that can be ran in the cold) but they're not going to perform miracles.
