Cup 2s work fine. Pressures are your concern. Too low and the tire runs the risk of delaminating. Too high (below structural) and you slide all over the place in the infield. What tires are y’all using that have gone to Daytona? Will the Michelin Cup 2 hold up to the G forces on the Banks?
If you hit it hard, a set of tires is good for 2 days. I usually have another set for 3 days. I should look into those dates. It would suck starting over in a new club with silly point bys and suchChin is doing October 12 13th plus they have a third day on the Friday can’t decide if I should do three days of love to do three days there that would be really cool. I’m gonna see if I can get a a few other guys from Texas to come with me.
Just bring that video of you doing what 186 think you’ll be OK.If you hit it hard, a set of tires is good for 2 days. I usually have another set for 3 days. I should look into those dates. It would suck starting over in a new club with silly point bys and such
I just can't seem to finish a session running flat out. Some of my videos you can see I hit fuel starvation. It's embarrassing.Just bring that video of you doing what 186 think you’ll be OK.
I am going to buy another set of cup 2. I have a set that I used at three days at Barber. However, I don’t think I’ll be pushing near as hard as you do.
How many laps do you get on a tank of fuel?
How long per session?I just can't seem to finish a session running flat out. Some of my videos you can see I hit fuel starvation. It's embarrassing.
Generally 25 mins per session. I don't recall mpg on dash. 3 or 4 mpg I guess....How long per session?
What does your dash MPG show?
I got 5.5mpg last weekend with my Gen3 A10 at a track with a single straightaway, my lowest ever.Generally 25 mins per session. I don't recall mpg on dash. 3 or 4 mpg I guess....
I just referenced one of my videos and at 16 mins I was suffering from sporadic fuel feeding issues due to starvation. That would get progressively worse until I had to back off and bring it in.I got 5.5mpg last weekend with my Gen3 A10 at a track with a single straightaway, my lowest ever.
I think my driving is getting better.
I guess my joke that a '500 uses one tank per session is not.
Care to suggest some hard numbers?Cup 2s work fine. Pressures are your concern. Too low and the tire runs the risk of delaminating. Too high (below structural) and you slide all over the place in the infield.
What indicates to you that a Cup2 is done?If you hit it hard, a set of tires is good for 2 days. I usually have another set for 3 days. I should look into those dates. It would suck starting over in a new club with silly point bys and such
I'm the last one to tell you how to drive, but if you find some sections that short-shifting by 1000rpm that won't hurt lap times too bad, then that will go a long way on fuel mileage. I'm sure you know this. But seriously, check your MPG at the end of your sessions!I just can't seem to finish a session running flat out. Some of my videos you can see I hit fuel starvation. It is dependent on ambient conditions. The right rear is the most important because it carries the highest load while on the outside banked course. The next most important is the right front for similar reasons. Then you have the left side of the vehicle which would fall into the normal category. I will typically start with cold (and I mean cold ambient temps- no time in sun, etc) 30 psi on the right rear, 29 on the right front, and 28 on the left side. Keep in mind those are based on ambient temps arount late fall. Summer months would be slightly different.Care to suggest some hard numbers?
Tire performance and condition. Each heat cycle deteriorates the grip of the tire. Generally speaking, the best performance of the tire is the first few laps and deteriorates the more they are used. As they heat cycle, the compound melts and smears across the tread and deteriorates the grip. I've never paid tire rack to pre-heat cycle my tires, but they say it helps the overall performance and wear of the tire. What indicates to you that a Cup2 is done?
The problem is the supercharger. Pumping out 800 hp with foot on the floor makes for a thirsty engine. I'm hoping that the GTD engineers consider this.I'm the last one to tell you how to drive, but if you find some sections that short-shifting by 1000rpm that won't hurt lap times too bad, then that will go a long way on fuel mileage. It would probably require some custom fabrication, but is it possible to increase fuel tanks in size to accommodate even 18 gallons vs the 16 (which is putrid by the way) these cars have? I know space is generally very limited in the design of these cars so I’m not even sure if larger fuel tanks are an option. Even just an extra 2 gallons should get you closer, if not all the way, to a full session I would think.I just can't seem to finish a session running flat out.
