I need some recommendations for a 285/35/19 tire. Its a street driven car that has a pd blower in its future. I was set on nitto nt05's but they dont make them in the size i want. So what would be comparable. Thanks!

If you care about having good mileage the MPSS' are leaps and bounds better and have more grip than the nitto's. Here's a good link for you to compare tires. Unless you want the ultra grip of the new RE71r's, RS3 2nd version, and Goodrich Rival 2's then MPSS is what you want. At least for a balance of ultimate grip and tire life. I will probably eventually get MPSS' in the future. I just think RE11's is a better suit for me right now. Everything I've read leads to the MPSS' actually having just a touch more grip but I like what I've read about the driving characteristics of the re11 better.

That said, the top dog street tire is the 71r but tread life is not good at all. So unless your car is a weekend car, or you autox competitively, or if you don't like money...then I wouldn't go near them.

Was thinking the only real options would be: invos, extreme contact dw, mickey t street comps, or michilen PSS. But none of those seem to be as good as the nt05's.

I don't know about the other three tires but the MPSS' are definitely better than the NT05's. And only based on a hunch, I would get the street comps over the nt05's as well. I don't really have anything to back up that claim, but it's just what I would choose given the option between the two

We had two sets of tires for our 2013 GT500:
Nitto Invos and Conti DWS. We ran the Nittos in the summer and the DWS when the temps were below 50 F. Both tires handled rain & standing water on the road excellently. The Invos had super grip in the hot weather. The DWS, not as much grip in the warm but handled great when the roads got colder.

Never drove either sets in the snow so I can only say that I love both sets for warm or rainy weather. We'll be getting the Invos on our 2015 when we get new wheels.

are you doing a square setup?

If you are, as pointed out in the other thread, MPSS' have great tread life. They more than likely will get you more miles for your dollar than just about any good summer tire out there. If you run a square setup they have a 30k mile guarantee on them. They also have excellent grip as mentioned before. I think the only reason they are in the Max performance section instead of the Extreme is because of how they are marketed and the tread rating Michelin gave them. I used to be a little anti-MPSS when I first got the mustang until I read more about them. Their grip levels are on par or better than a lot of the last generation Extreme tires which are still better than pretty much any other Max performance tire.

I have heard, I think in this forum, that how Michelin pulls that magic off is by running a dual rubber compound in the tire. Similar to how street motorcycle tires are made. However that is just hearsay, I have not read that in anything official.

I've had the MT Street Comp's and there are a good every day driver tire but they don't have no where near the grip of the MPSS, INVO or NT05

I had them for about 4500 miles and they still looked brand new.
