Time for the next chapter

Curious, are you going to go with a twin scroll? I really like my Mustang but I really do miss the turbo surge of torque my past car had.

Probably not. I have turbo selection down to a couple of different units at this point however I’m pretty sure I’m going with twins. It just makes to much sense to ignore. I should have the turbo(s) ordered next week at which point I’ll post what they are and how much money I’m into this build.

Cut the cat off the factory driver side manifold on my lunch break today. Off of it I will probably attach a short small radius bend and then the vband flange. I’ll have to wait until I can mock it up on the car to be sure. Probably another week or two out for that.

The single turbo build has officially become a twin turbo build. There was just to many compelling reasons to go twins as opposed to a single. Back pressure concerns was definitely a part of it, but then so was the issue of exhaust plumbing. The only downside of a mid mount twin set up I could come up with was the need to run a scavenging pump. Anyway, I believe I have now ordered all the parts I will need to start putting the kit together. The only thing I’m missing for now is injectors. As for the turbos. I have gone with a very budget friendly 60/62 billet wheel twin scroll T4’s. The twin scroll is a bit unorthodox, but in the interest of quick spool, I’m giving them a try..Enough talk for now. Here’s some pictures of what I have so far.

I’m going to get started on the install process next weekend. Hopefully I’ll have it up and running by the end of September/beginning of October. I’ll be taking plenty of pics

Made some good progress today. Not as much as I wanted, but progress none the less. I’m not totally happy with how low the driver side turbo sits so I’m going to have another look at it tomorrow. I also ran the oil feed line while I had the driver side manifold off. Anyway I’m beat like a drum. Here’s some pics

Had to re do all the fab work for the turbo mounting as they sat way to low. Also got the driver side waste gate mounted. This coming weekend. I’ll get the passenger side waste gate mounted and plumb either the exhaust or I/C plumbing.

Thanks. It’s taking a bit longer than I anticipated, but I’m trying not to rush. Hopefully it will be ready for the November meet

Thank you. It was quite a chore and I’ve got quite a bit of time into welding the manifolds, but so far I’m pleased with the outcome
