Time for brakes...

So I have a PP car and its time for pads/rotors. I also like drag racing and want to save weight but I'm not willing to get drag brakes and compromise the braking of the car. I'm somewhat set on the Baer eradispeed or girodisc 2 piece rotors as they save about 10 lbs each rotor and are priced fairly evenly. What should I get for pads? I will be taking the car to the road course this year and not a fan of changing pads/rotors just for the track. Any suggestions to try to sacrifice the least? Stock pads? Aftermarket? Thanks guys.

P.S. For what its worth I think the stock brakes are absolutely fantastic, car has 19k of repeatedly hard stops with not a hint of fade and I like that great initial bite, don't care TOO MUCH about squeal/dust but don't want the worst of both worlds there.

As for track pads vs street pads, you can't really have it both ways if you're driving hard at the track, you'll need pads that can hold up to the heat.

The good news is that stock Ford PP pads are usually plenty good for your first few track days, they only start to fade when you're really driving harder than most novices can convince themselves to drive.

The bad news is that nearly all track pads are miserable to live with on the street (noise can be really bad, even if the cold braking is good).

So I'd say unless you're willing to commit to two sets of pads (and need sets which are compatible materials) stick with the Ford PP pads, they're really quite good for intro track use. I've done a few days with them and others have too without much of an issue.

I've used the Ford and GLOC street pads, and I won't vouch for any other street pad manufacturers when it comes to track use. The Ford pads held up pretty well to light track use. The GLOC pads hold up ok, but glaze a bit if you use them on the track and squeal quite a bit for afterwards until you sand them down to remove the glazing. I use them because I do have a second set of compatible GLOC pads for track days.

The brake squeal for my Powerstop Track day pads is pretty bad...but the performance is excellent. It's almost bad enough that I may change them till my first HPDE in July. Autox is fine on stock pads.
