1. I recently installed Steeda's adjustable IRS bushing inserts (RED) and am now experiencing an occasional 'THUNK' sound under certain conditions. I'm not 100% sure its from these parts so I would like to get some feed back. A 4 wheel computer alignment was done at the same time so not sure if something is loose or if this is the normal characteristic of these parts. I do hear a slight whine which is barley noticeable and is normal from what I've read. Condition I hear it most is ; Slowing down for Red light but then it turns green I give gas it will thunk.

2. I've noticed (even before the Steeda inserts and Alignment) that when i'm cursing on the freeway doing say 70mph if I go WOT the car will do something like Torque Steer, it'll kind of sway and fell unstable, then when I let off it would do the same. No I'm not spinning or jerking the wheel, its controllable but I know this should not happen. I figured this was due to needing an alignment and new front tires (they where crap) So i did just that, Installed new front tires, steeda IRS inserts and got an alignment but the SAME thing is happening.

The History; I myself , Installed CJP (eibach?) Springs along with BMR IRS Lockout kit and BMR Vertical links. Swapped my 20" foundry wheels so 19" PP wheels/tires.

Months later I had American Wheels N Tires install the Steeda IRS and do an alignment. I helped the tech with the install to insure the install was done right. Took the car on the freeway to see if there was an improvement but same situation with the movement.

I will be putting the car an jack stands and checking to make sure all the IRS bolts are torqued to spec. I will also post a pic of my Alignment as I believe he was in too much of a hurry to get my car out after he/we installed the inserts.

Thanks

Your title says the problems are from the Steeda parts and that isn't true. I have the same clunk right as I'm almost stopped and just taking off. Much more noticeable in sport mode. I've had it since the car was new (unmodified). I took it to the dealer and they heard it as well. Then they checked a new car on the lot and it had the exact same problem. They said there is nothing that they can fix. If it comes that way from Ford, they have to wait until Ford issues a TSB to correct it.

And sway has nothing to do with differential inserts...

The only noise you will get from the red differential bushings will be more rearend harmonics or a light growl or howling at a certain speed, likely 50-60mph. The thunk, as Joe stated, has nothing to do with your Steeda parts.

Search on this forum for THUNK and you will see how many threads are on this already.

My opinion is when you were torquing everything down back there the car was not sitting on its own weight. The suspension has to be weighted before torquing down because of the rubber bushings you have. I had this issue and when I switched the LCA bushings to bearings I made sure the suspension was weighted before I torqued (even though I no longer have bushings) and now it's fine.

That's a great suggestion. Kelly from BMR wrote up a great tip on this exactly.

Hey OP, if the situation started after you installed your springs, try this. I had it done last week and it cured the issue for me. - i did springs, cradle lock, toe rods and sways at the same time and could not figure out what was going on for weeks.

jabrax, No noise after spring, it happen after the Steeda busing inserts and alignment. Will give it a stab though thanks for the info.
jbailer Well I never had the sound before the inserts and alignment. So its either the Steeda inserts or something left loose from the alignment or installation of the inserts.

Sucks because all this stuff was supposed to tighten up the suspension now its unstable and making noises.. ;puulouthairemoji;

Jmeo , thanks for the info Ill try it. When I installed the Steed inserts the car has on the alignment rack so weight was on the suspension when everything was unbolted/bolted

If the Steeda parts were installed correctly, you won't have a single issue. It is that simple.

Todd15Fastback How could someone mess up the install. Its pretty straight forward.
I'm not saying its the Inserts that are making the noise, I'm saying it happen after they where installed and the car was aligned. They could be the culprit (somehow ?) they may not. I don't know. I am not blaming anything on any part, yet.

I took the car back in to the shop where the install was done and we put it on the drive up and checked under th IRS and nothing stood out. We re-torqued everything, but i'm still getting the thud. I have an appointment for Monday to go in a "clock" the bushings (as per BMRs advice). Guess will see how that go's.

Actually you are by the title of your thread, "Thunk from Steeda IRS inserts, and Car Sways." As Todd mentioned, if they were installed correctly, they wouldn't be causing the problem.

Personally, I'm hoping you figure it out. As mentioned before, if you do some searching here on the forum, there have been a lot of complaining about the thunking noise, me included. These were unmodified cars. Some had driveshafts replaced, some had flanges replaced and if I remember correctly, 1 guy even had his transmission replaced. Some the noise went away temporarily but I never heard a final fix so I'm curious to hear what you find out.

Update :

I got myself a gopro and grabbed some video.

Their are 3 different views. all are from different drives I did my best to replicate the driving conditions. Camera only picked up the sound when it was mounted to the BMR Cradle lockout bar.

Looks like everything is loose. The second half of your video really scares me. I wouldn't drive anymore until you go through it very carefully.
It is time to go through each and every bolt in your subframe and clock the bushings after you've done that.

@IvanCRF

I've checked all the bolts both sides, their all tight.

From the Cradle bolts, front and rear, to the Vertical links Camber arms, toe links. all are tight.

I think the 2nd part of the video looks weird because the camera is mounted on the sway bar and is moving counter the suspension.
