Anyone know how much it'd cost for us to rent Donnington for a bit, and we can get us all down there then?

Have a few sessions of people just wanting to drive on the track, then we can let our resident hardcore drivers/modders loose in an all out race wined takes home the bacon (I'll provide winner with a pack of tecos finest streaky bacon!)... I'll totally race with them, just so none of them come last !
Depends on the time of year and now we're into the race season - so not cheap and most weekends will will be booked.

Haven't rented the circuit for a while (not since it closed and reopened), but I'd expect circa ÂŁ20-25k with marshalls.

That said, racing wouldn't be permitted unless the drivers held ARDS/National Race Licences, which would count most people out.

Same goes for timing, which is also not allowed on trackdays (officially).

Still, that's not the point. Trackdays are there to hone your driving in a relatively 'safe' environment. Nothing wrong with testing each others cars, but bear in mind that it's not that hard to 'buzz' and engine doing this (over-rev by way of early downshift for example).

Better off speaking to someone like Johnny at Bookatrack and trying to get a semi-exclusive deal with him - or any of the other ATDOs. There's the issue of insurance etc. to consider too which could be problematic for a private hire perspective, espeically if you take money from people to attend.

Silverstone best from a safety perspective, Cadwell would really test the handling mods :)

Yeah I've never booked a track before, totally new to it, just made the statement as would be good to do IMO!.

I totally don't have a race licence, doubt I could get one either, I drive like a granny in the eco .

Lets bring this thread back on topic (GOd bet you'd never hear me say that!):

I'm thinking of doing some mods, I have NO FKING CLUE, what I want to do, but, would be willing to take advise from everyone on what would improve the general upkeep of the car, keep it looking fresh, sounding nice etc.

At the moment I've toiled with the idea of the following:
Exhaust
Splash guards (Although rear wheels need to come off which I'm not pleased about!)
K&N Air filter (Not CAI)
ADAMTUNE - lifetime tune (If it gets me better MPG whilst also getting me better Bhp)
Catch can
Roush side vents
Painting calipers, contemplating going red
Rocker and hood decals

Aim it to keep the car looking both classy, fresh and mean on the aesthetics, anything mechanically relate is purely for the upkeep of the car more than anything to make the car go faster. I don't drive it fast round any corners, I tend to take them very slowly, especially in the wet or cold. I'm yet to take a roundabout quicker than 30mph either... So, handling on the car, in my eyes, is 'Fine' :)

Right, in an attempt to get back somwhere near on topic....(I don't mind really) but I do dislike squabbles......

Anywho my list has now totally changed:lol:..... I've been pricing everything up, and also been in touch with Steeda, and Robbie has done me a bit of a deal that's to good to turn down.....especially when considering import charges, duty and postage from the USA...

The results will be the same or close enough not to matter, but I get the parts quicker, and as I said at a price I'm happy with......

So now the list is:eyebulge:
BMR cradle lockout......got a great price on this from an eBay seller:)
Steeda sport linear springs... 1" drop
Steeda F&R sway bars
Steeda IRS subframe alignment kit
Steeda Diff bush inserts.
Ford racing Bump stops.... I'm fitting these because ford recommend them with their 1" drop springs...

Oh and I get a free hat...

If I was you I would stick to aesthetic mods due to your insurance. Don't forget a tune will void you warranty too, and with the stories from the US on the Ecoboom it might be an idea to leave that for a while. Although I think the issues are wit these earlier engines.

If your not fussed about insurance I would start with exhaust. Go full cat back and that should get it sounding nice. And do the air filter.

MSV run their "How Fast" events at Bedford - they are really well organised. A safe circuit and they measure your times so we could find out who really is fastest..... Only ÂŁ99

Gibbo's car looks great, and it would be easy to just copy everything he's done but I don't just want to clone someone else's car.....
The looks are entirely down to you, good to get advice on performance and handling though as it usually requires someone who's done it before.

Bloody hell go off line for a day and miss a banter session

1. Donnington - hell yeah up for it and a night in the priest house malt bar too

2. Enoch - good choice of mods - only comment I would make is to do the BMR lock out before the rest of the bushings - they will increase the NVH.

3. Ride height etc - all the recommendations so far don't include adjustable suspension - I am very happy with the KW v3 and for the price it is not so different to the other set ups once you factor in import costs for the others and you can direct buy KW over here without importing. The main benefit is loads of adjustment so soft to wood in a couple of clicks, but you do need to jack the car up... so pays your money makes your choice.

I deliberately wanted to avoid adjustable suspension, for a couple of reasons..
1. I think the standard damping is not that bad.(for my type of driving)
2. I don't want to be lying under the car trying to fine tune suspension.

No worries.....it doesn't bother me one bit:cheers:

Yes BMR kit from Jegs..:)
