Hey everyone. Was putting my buddies car back together, installed a new thermostat. When I was taking it apart a black plastic piece went flying. And I cant even remember where it came from. The leak (drip while car is off) was coming from the male section on the top of the thermostat. Is this how its suppose to go on? And obviously the O-ring inside? Couldnt find any info. Maybe I just had the black plastic piece on reverse?

Is it coming out of the hose end or do you have a micro crack in the housing? I have had the hose clamps lose there clamping strength in the past.

Sorry, I didn’t explain it great. It was dripping out the female side of the hose.

Have you tried a traditional hose clamp? Depending on miles you may just get a new oem hose and call it a day. They aren’t real pricey.

It was leaking at the fitting. Im asking if that black plastic piece (in the pic on the male end) is suppose to be there... inside the female end just before the O ring? Id rather not just throw parts at it if it was a simple mis-installation on my part.

The plastic piece retains the o-ring in the female hose. They get stuck like that i always replace the factory hoses the plastic gets brittle over time.
