That being said, it seems like V6 cars suffer from drive shaft vibration where ECOs and GTs don't. You would think that since transmissions and Diffs are the same, the others would have more problems. Maybe Ford is using a cheaper driveshaft on V6s?
I haven't considered the topic , but it wouldn't surprise me. Since there is no Premium / PP for v6, Ford seems to be more excited about EB. The v6 probably points Ford in the wrong direction for meeting the government CAFE standards, so they are encouraging buyers to get into an EB. The GT isn't good for CAFE either, but its also a big price jump, so they are willing to take the ( CAFE ) black eye. Just my theory. Which may or may not have anything to do with reality.

I'd have to research this topic more, but I think a lot of our traffic fatalities are due to the drinkers. Probably a fair number on the narrow two lane farm to market roads, where cars are vulnerable to (relative) high speed small overlap crash (see jalopnik video below), or rollover. I don't imagine speeders on the multi highways run up the numbers much. Unless they are also the drinkers.

this is high on google search:

Texting While Driving Vs. Drunk Driving: Which Is More Dangerous?

...

Comparing The Two: Texting While Driving Is Like Drinking 4 Beers

In 2002, there were 12,405 drunk driving fatalities. That number dropped to 9,296 in 2011 – a 25% decrease.

Texting & Driving On The Rise. Distracted driving resulted in approximately 2,600 deaths in 2002. The number of distracted driving accidents increased by 22% in 2011 and resulted in 3,331 fatalities. Texting while driving is a leading cause of distracted driving. However, the NHTSA reports that texting while driving is currently responsible for approximately 1.6 million accidents every year – about 25% of all driving accidents.

the average texter takes their eyes off the road for 23 seconds to browse, dial and send a message — not to mention the time it takes to find the phone in the first place.

most people around here run dark tint on their cars so you can't tell what the driver is doing. But if I see someone drifting the lane, driving too slow, or doing other erratic stuff, as I pull up beside them and look into the driver window, nearly always they are goofing with a phone

I really need to get a dash cam

It's been a while since I've looked, but it seemed like Germany had less accidents on the autobahn than we do on our interstates, but an accident on the autobahn was more likely to be deadly due to the speed involved. They make up the difference on the b-roads though, where they still drive fairly fast but don't have limited access like the autobahn, have tighter turns, etc. I think part of the reason you don't see so many deer impacts in Germany is that they often have high fences on the outside and/or double guard-rails on the median. They're also very quick to clean up the mess for obvious reasons, so even when it does happen, you might not know about it.

Someone mentioned faulting and ticketing the guy who gets rear-ended in the passing lane... if they aren't worried about dying, I don't think threatening them with a ticket will help much either. If speed limits were raised significantly in the US, there would have to be a major education campaign to wake people up and teach them how to use a mirror.

As for the hoopties and bro-dozers, just because the speed limit is high (or non-existent) doesn't mean they have to go that fast. In fact, there are miles and miles of 75-85mph speed limits in the US and you still see quite a few people going about 70mph. Most people aren't going to hammer down like you and I.
