I'm not questioning that there are adm's. What I was wondering, is why a lot of dealers that sold base, track pack and tech pack cars previous to the 2017's were asking on average $5000 to $10,000 over sticker. Now that 17's started rolling in they're asking between $10,000 and $20,000.

Dodge dealers in my market have a glut of Hellcats. The high adm's seems to have subsided greatly there.
I assume they dont think they are getting any more so they are trying to get a premium for whats left

Maybe there's a conception/misconception that the 2017s are the last of the production?

As for the latter part of your post, who cares!! J/K ;)

Ford originally said 2 years, the original dealer buy-in contracts were for 2 years and there's been no indication from Ford that production will be extended past 2017. OTOH, there's been no credible news about a GT 500 or Mach 1, either.

We get it, you work for a dealer and are upset that people are continuously calling out the scummy business tactics of you and your peers.
Lame. He's actually very upfront and forward with everyone on here.

And he is right, California is not only a different state, but a different world compared to most of the country in terms of how things are valued. If you have never lived here and experienced it, you will never understand it. Many times some folks are so entrenched with their own believes that they lack the ability to see anything beyond their own front door.

Not that I need to say so but Variance you couldn't be further from the truth. Any member here (as shown above) that has worked with me or talked with me will verify I do what o can to help anyone get a lower price and a better deal. Everyone is quoted the same and I have NUMEROUS times provided lists of dealers nationwide that have specific colors/options for buyers that I could keep to myself in hopes they buy at higher ADMs or from myself. Just because I'm in the business does not mean I support high ADMs anymore than you do, I just actually understand why they're there and instead of complaining find a way to get mine with no adm.

I don't get it. Why are the dealer markups on the 2017's higher than they were on the earlier models?
As already stated most dealers are assuming these will be the last they get - but also I would have to think, all of the knowledgable guys negotiating on 16s are telling dealers "the 16 is less desirable, it only has track OR tech. 17 has both" yes you are trying to help your case in getting a 16 cheaper but also giving dealers reason that the 17s are "better" and demands a premium

You must be new here. ADMs used to be $15-20k on base models. Those have subsided in many areas down to single digits. Especially actual sale prices rather than asking prices.

Saw your car on the lot, beautiful. Made the same drive last Friday. I'm about 3 miles from Hwy 74.
What city? I live a few miles from Hell's Kitchen.

Last week I did a search of dealers in the 100 miles radius of the LA/OC area, 84 2016/17 GT350s are either at dealerships or on the way. One dealer in Fontana has 5 2016 cars in the showroom at 20k+ ADM...WTF. I sat down and made offers at a good bit over MSRP at a number of dealers in the area with inventory and they wouldn't take it. The dealers must know something we don't, and they aren't in the business to lose money. Only thing I can think of is there must be a stream of guys like me making offers higher than mine that give them confidence to stand firm on their price.

On the other hand I never see these cars on the roads in SoCal, I see more Ford Gt's than Gt350's.......I guess all the allocation is sitting in dealers.

I wonder this but I noticed some dealers have 500+ cars if you sit on 5 do they even notice?

I see dealers sitting on car for months
I see 30+ gt350 on eBay none ever sell just get relisted
I see people selling used gt350 at above msrp and those don't sell

It's interesting but odd

Can I have that dealer's contact information, please? I want to have him configure the R for me with $40,000 in small bills in the trunk.

:
 seriously! Good on ford for building the car but $100k with a straight face after I told them I wasn't interested in some silly ADM. Craziest market I've ever seen.

The dealers have figured out that people will pay $25k ADM. That's why....

I had a dealer contact me, they were paying other dealers $10k to buy allocations, then flipping them for an additional $10k to $15k more.

Made me sick to hear that.

Yeah this is such a low-volume but fantastic car they know they can get it. I know people say the '15 is the "collector" car but for those like me that like to wait a year for a model to get the "kinks" out, the 2017 is the one to get. Nothing against 2016's - looks like they are pretty much issue free which is a testament to the quality of the people who designed, launched, and currently build the Mustang!

I had a BMW, VW, Audi among my many Mustangs. And this 2017 GT350 has better quality than all of them, looks better than all of them, and has an interior with luxuries that 10 years ago you'd never believe would be in a Mustang.

Thank you Ford for building the GT350 !

I apologize for snapping at you; I'm just salty as hell over this bullshit after contacting 50+ dealers and not being able to find a single allocation at MSRP. It absolutely baffles me how I am unable to purchase a vehicle with a planned production run of over 10,000 units at the manufacturer's suggested retail price. I even had one dealer representative specifically say to me over the phone: "We do enough hand-outs that we have to make money where we can." Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that earning a FOUR THOUSAND DOLLAR profit with no negotiation or financing concerns was a fucking hand-out. It's not like I can't afford the ADM, but it's the principle of the damn thing.

This kind of behavior would be unacceptable in basically any other retail industry...

I'm a newbie on this forum, but not car buying. I've read through this tread and finally decided to chime in.

Here is my take, and BTW my order for a 2017 GT350 cost me MSRP + $5k.

I have owned dozens of new cars, the GT350 is the first car in my life that I ever paid MSRP for, let alone over MSRP. I paid $500 over Invoice for my 99 Viper GTS back in 99. I paid pure invoice for my 2008 Corvette Z06. I paid pure invoice for my 2011 Ford Raptor. I paid $3k Under Invoice for my 2016 F350 Platinum Dually. I paid $2K Under Invoice for my wife's 2015 Explorer Sport....(Please note I stated Invoice above, not MSRP, so it was bare bones for the dealerships with the exception of the hold back they get from the manufacturer)

Then came the GT350. At first I was pissed like many of you and I said no F'in way. Then the reality set in that I was not going to find a local dealership that would sell me one for MSRP, hell, I was finding it impossible just to find a dealership that actually had an allocation!

At the end of the day I realized; I wanted the car and life is just too short. When I consider the deals I have gotten on every prior car/truck purchase, it seems fair to me that the dealership has 1 win compared to my 20+.

Furthermore and an important thing for you to also consider...What's your other option in cars that would be comparable to the GT350?

For me it was a new Z06 or Grand Sport Vette. In both cases, they are far more expensive than a GT350 and provide less driving enjoyment IMO. Not sure if you guys even look at Vette prices, but a plain jane base C7 stingray with a Z51 package and 3 LT trim will cost you $80k out the door!

I just sold my 2013 ZL1 a few month back (also paid pure invoice for BTW), and while it had more HP than the GT350, it just didn't excite me to drive it.

At $67k out the door for a GT350 Including the $5K mark-up, it's a bargain and I didn't enjoying driving a car this much since my Viper.

Im willing to pay 1k at 5k I'll pass on the car. Because the same dealer you paid 5k ADM would give you under msrp for a trade. I found a few dealers who would do under 5k on a order but who knows if come paper work time that would of changed. Dealers by me have sat on cars for over 2 months. To each their own though!!!

It certainly is refreshing to see someone provide some commentary that is similar in thinking as to the way I look at this issue instead of all the bitching and complaining that we see on this thread.

There are times in life when we can get some very good deals on vehicles and purchase them well under MSRP and then there is the odd time when we have to suck it up and pay an ADM on a vehicle of interest to us and which is also of great interest to the rest automotive enthusiast community as well thus a supply/demand situation and of course an ADM.

I am no different than anyone else and don't like ADM's but as you so correctly mentioned there is no dress rehearsal in life and if the ADM is within reason I don't see any issue with paying an ADM for one of these outstanding vehicles.
