Mustang fan all the way

First NO one in here like ADM's nor in favor of them. It's just the reality. I do have a question though to someone that won't pay it or just out right hates them. I'm just asking with no disrespect to you, I want to make that clear.
Are you car guys not so much Mustang guys? Again I payed an ADM for a ShelbyGT350 because I'm a Mustang guy, always have been. So I really wanted this car. Now when the Z28 came out, great car but I wouldn't pay an ADM to get one. Same as a Viper or a HellCat I'm not paying an ADM for it. This GT350 is prob the only car I'd do it for, but again I'm a real fan of the Mustang Shelby. As far as losing $ once off the lot, that didnt concern me, I have no intention of selling the car so the value of the car is only personal to me.

I like all muscle cars and wanted the '06 LS7 Z06 at that time, appreciate the Hellcat and the Z28 but after my first '14 Roush S/C Mustang I got hooked on Ford and the Shelby GT500.
After seeing the new Shelby GT350 and all the engineering that went into it, I started to see how I could get my hands on one.
Like many of you I called around my state (Georgia) and then the country seeing MSRP listed but finding out that it was 10-15K ADM. As much as I wanted a Shelby I couldn't financially afford to go that much over.
I live in a town 2 hrs south of Atlanta. I've never bought a car from my dealer but I do get all my service work there and my father in law sold cars there for 30 yrs.
My dealer has 1 allocation per year and they said I could have it. I talked to my dealer and he only asked for 2K over MSRP for the '17 non R. I didn't haggle or walk away. I can live with that price and consider myself fortunate to at least be able to order one and not settle for what the dealer has on there showroom. I could afford that. I was trading in my Roush. I could definitely afford that. So I'll finance around 30-35K after my trade.
I love what Ford has done with the Shelby and I don't mind paying over MSRP for the car I have fallen in love with. I can finally be a Shelby owner. I count myself as a fortunate Shelby owner and Mustang FAN !!

What the hell are they thinking!
I love the $500 college student incentive. That should put this within the reach of college kids!

On another note, the VIN is for an R model. They probably just used stock photos that therefore appears to be advertising a non R for this amount.

I'm sure it's an R model for this amount. NOT THAT I AM DEFENDING IT!

My 2016 in coming in next week and I was talking to my salesman about 2017 pricing.

He said they sold their 17R for 15k over and want 10K for non-R. Basically they are starting at $5k higher than last year. I know this doesn't mean they will get 10K over for a non-R, but they are starting higher than the '16s.

Just wait till the GT500 comes out, there will be stupid ADM on that one, the GT350s should be able to go for well below MSRP at that point, You will probably get one from an owner trading up for less than the ADM on the GT500.

I definitely think the value of the R and Non-R are going to drop mid year 17. Once they release what is happening with the GT500(especially if it is FI on the VooDoo) the price of the GT350's will drop. I think that R's will be had in the $50's with just a few miles on them.

I would be happier than a pig in slop if things work out that way. Spring 2017 is my target window for getting a GT350 if I can come to a concrete decision about buying one. I would want to put at least $10k down on it, but doing so means that I would have to come to a complete stop on all mods/upgrades for my GT. For example, a set of new wheels and tires would be around $2k alone, which is a big chunk of change. I really need to decide quickly if my ultimate goal is to A) buy a GT350 or B) add a supercharger to my GT.

Hard to say for you because it seems like your priority is speed. For the rest of us who take the GT350 for what it really is, the GT500 doesn't even show up on the radar no matter how quick it will be. There will only be one 5.2L naturally aspirated, 8250RPM Flat-plane crank American V8, and that's something the GT500, or anything else will ever have.

Now if that means a lot to you, by all means shoot for the GT350, otherwise you will just get rid of it down the line because it's not quick enough for you.

Quite the opposite, actually. My GT is a daily driver and if I got a GT350, it would be daily driven as well. No garage queens here! Most roads I drive on max out at 45mph or up to 70mph on the highways. Adding a supercharger would just make me a member of the "supercharged car club" in the same way a GT350 would put me into the "Shelby owner's club." In theory, a supercharger would be awesome to have. In reality, it would be complete overkill for me. Lets face it though, none of us NEED 400 or 500hp cars. We merely WANT to own them because of the driving experience they give us and the status they help attain. As automobile enthusiasts, these cars are indeed a reflection of our personalities. If being be a member of the more exclusive club is a priority though, the GT350 definitely trumps the FI option. Anyone can buy a supercharger. :)

I was just talking to my wife about this topic yesterday. When I told her I was considering a 2017 GT350, she said "but you JUST got a Mustang last fall!" So I tried to explain in layman's terms the major differences between the GT and the GT350. I said that lots of people buy an EB or V6 Mustang and want the GT or buy a GT and then want the GT350. However, the GT350 is (for now) the Alpha Dog of the 6th generation Stang and yes, has that one-of-a-kind Voodoo V8. I make a good living, but I'm not filthy rich. I can't just cut a check for a $60k car on a whim. Based on my beliefs and opinion, you don't dump a Shelby once you have one. GTs are a dime a dozen. The GT350 is quite unique and is NOT a car that I would get rid of voluntarily once I had one. Not even the upcoming GT500 could change my stance on that, especially since it will probably be supercharged like the previous one and cost an ungodly amount of money. I don't need 700hp. I want a unique, exclusive, sweet-sounding road-hugger. But (to somewhat stay on thread topic) I'm NOT going to pay a ridiculous amount of ADM for it. $5k over MSRP? Eh, that's probably OK. I'm not so naive that I don't understand the concept of supply and demand.

Funny, my wife prodded me to buy my 350 despite the ADM. She knew I would regret it if I passed. Our local dealer only got 2 and I didn't really want to buy a car out of the area.

Hurricane , I had the same conversation with my wife in March. My buddy at the dealer called me and let me know he received an allocation for a MY16 GT350. It's all about that FPC 5.2 engine. I also bought a 15 GT/PP in Nov of 14, but I did Supercharge it! It's not a DD but not a total garage queen ether. I was fully prepared to go from a 725hp car to 526hp car because it's a "SHELBY"!!!! Your post it %100 accurate in my opinion about the GT350. Now I did try an sell my GT and the offers were simply a joke for what I got in the car. Witch I brought up about dumping thousands of $ into a GT ( talk about depression)v/s paying an ADM on a car that might actually hold value in a previous post. My eta on delivery for my GT350 TrackPack is June 5th! Long story short my son received a very nice athletic scholarship, so I'm keeping my GT along with the Shelby. Sometimes kids are great,,,,lol
