I was in Austin earlier this week and a Moto cop pulled next to me at a stop light and beeped his siren at me. I looked over and he just smiled and gave me a thumbs up. I assume he's a fellow S550 owner so cheers to that dude.

I live in Round Rock just north of Austin and there's a car show actually sponsored by the Round Rock police department. It's pretty nice when your police presence are car fans. Don't have to worry about stupid front license plate rules and things like that because they understand.

Nice. 2/3 times I've been pulled over in Austin, the cop wanted to chat a little about the car.

The other time they were profiling and officer waited for backup to arrive before writing me a b.s. ticket (which I fought successfully.)

That's how police should interact with citizens committing
low level crimes such as punching it in safe conditions.

Police should spend more time harassing high level crimes

Yeah, part of the reason I was startled is because I had been cooking pretty good on 71 before I exited. It wouldn't have been the first time some LEO rolled up on me at a light or a gas station because he couldn't catch up to me on the freeway.

So this last Saturday we had a 6G cruise to Malibu. ~15-20 of us parked our Mustangs in a lot in a mini-mall. A cop pulling through the lot uttered to us over his loudspeaker, "Go Ford! Ford power!"

I only get citations when the police stop me.
I must be doing something wrong...

This is clearly an abuse of power, BUT..I wouldn't be upset unless he made me late. I guess they just bank on the fact that the driver will always want to chat about their car.

In one case in the stang I was pulled over before the cop even got turned around. He had turned on his lights and it was clear they were for me, no sense in pretending and since the good paved shoulder ended soon, I got over right away. That guy even admitted to me that he told his trainee partner "that is how you get off with a warning"':eyebulge:

If you want a warning you have to get a little lucky, but it really helps to pull over fast in a really safe spot for the cop, windows down, car off, and hands visible and stuff. By pulling over quickly it shows that you are not going to debate the issue and the cop can get back to what they were doing quickly.

If they feel the stop was risky, unsafe, or time consuming, they're a lot less likely to let you off for their trouble. That's my 2c, and I've been let off a bunch of times. Been ticketed a lot too, so YMMV. I'm he same gender/ethnicity as most cops in this area too so that may help.

Apparently I have "Habitual Speeder" in the Caution Indicators section of my DLN record. So I haven't had a warning in 25 years, fortunately I don't get many tickets anymore.

I was blasting down the street one late night headed to a Dunkin's (go figure) near work. I walk in, get some coffee and when I head back out there was a cop car blocking my car in and the cop came up to me from out of nowhere (I honestly didn't see him coming towards me, his partner was still in the car) he asks me if that's my car.. I worryingly said yes, he then asks me how fast is it? I'm thinking entrapment at this point Lol.. I said, it's quick. He then ask if it's a V6 or V8? I said, 4 cylinder turbo, he was confused and asked that I let him hear it rev Lol. He then told me he used to have a red cobra and was thinking about getting a new GT, he then says take it easy and drive safe heh.

Was sitting in the 86 at a light with the top down; roll bar clearly present. Cop rolled up and asked if I auto-crossed the car (big square set-up, no rear seat, etc.). I said yep. He nodded and said looks good; keep it at the track. Not sure if he'd seen me at FedEx or what.

With so many Porsches around here, and not being able to go a week without seeing a Maserati / Lambo / Ferrari / Aston , the occasional McLaren , Nobody looks twice at a boring S550 GT
