It says my iPhone 5S isn't a supported device for this feature. Has anyone made this work?

I think most issues will be fixed with sync 3 for 2016/2017 models... sucks for us but I have a HTC M8 and works great. Had a slight issue when my phone updated to lollipop software but just unpaired the phone repaired and all good again.

I have both android and ios phones and I do get on-screen text notifications when connecting the android phone. I have not tried sending texts using speech-to-text. Will try this weekend once I get home.

my text messaging works with sync...this is the base sync not the mft so should work. you have to change a setting in your phone though. cant remember which to make it work.

On an iphone just start siri and say who you want to text, sync takes over then
No offense! Your answer has nothing to do with the question. People like me pay $800 for the MFT including navigation and should use our cellphone because the $800 unit doesn't have basic futures? Our touch screen unit in our Jeep GC does it with iphone or android without any problems. But again. Jeep uses QNX and not Microsoft who doesn't like Apple.

off topic:
I am disappointed that the unit doesn't support actual speed warnings like our Jeep offers. Wasted money. My $200 Chinese aftermarket unit had more futures than FORD's factory unit.

So no. I don't like to use my free app on the phone to drive around in my $45,000 CAD Mustang. :tsk:

I can receive texts through MFT with my iPhone 6 Plus. To make it work, go into the Bluetooth settings on the phone, click the 'i' button next to the SYNC device, and turn on Show Notifications.

Thanks for the correction. How could I missed the feature? I guess texting with my cellphone and the feature "suggestions" enabled isn't a good feature at all.
What has a muscle car to do with the MFT and Sync? And don't blame Canadian people that I am not perfect. I'm originally from Germany.

But the question was how Sync could be used with an IPhone. If there will be a software update in the "future" the feature will be maybe available.

FWIW, I have an Android phone. Text messages (SMS) come through, but Hangouts messages do not, so my guess is that there are proprietary issues that cause the communication issues between our phones and MFT. Now, whether that's from Microsoft's end or Apple/Google, well...
