Hmmm, part of me says the more the better, the other part is hoping that at least a few of these people aren't hairdressers.

:)
LOL, most of the BMW guys hope they dont have to grow a mullett or have to buy a wife beater to fit in : ) I think the new Mustang is going to change the demographic of your "typical" mustang owner somewhat. Kudos to Ford for making a product appealing to a wider audience. My first car was a Camaro, but i would never drive a current Camaro. The fact that you see more previous BMW guys on here than you do people cross shopping the Challengers & Camaros is probably what Ford was hoping for.

I have an E46 M3 and while I likely won't be buying a 2015 Stang (2yo kid, disposable income going straight towards disposable diapers), I am and would be very interested in the S550 as a suitable replacement for the M3. It's an absolute blast to drive, has a motor of the gods, timeless good looks for the ages and just such a great balance of, well, everything.

However...

I'll agree with the onerous repair rate and costs of a BMWs of late, just ridiculous and I think that will eventually catch up with them when someone else starts making suitable, affordable and great driving alternatives ... like the S500 really seems to be shaping up to be. The S197s certainly had the go power and could post some big test numbers in ideal conditions but was just too backwards and crude overall while the S550 seems to be a truly 21st century world-class effort. Meanwhile, as mentioned, BMW seems to be squandering the traits that drew so many influential enthusiast owners to the marque in the first place and who are the bedrock of the BMW cache.

I'll be real interested in reading the reviews of previous BMW owners as they rack up more seat time. That and how reliable the S550 turns out to be. I think BMW may start having a real problem with the S550 stealing 2 and 3 Series sales, especially from the enthusiast ranks.

I almost pulled the trigger on a used 335i before discovering the '15 mustang back in April and ordered the ecoboost based on similar hp/tq numbers to the 335 that I was looking for. Nice write up!

That makes at least fifteen of us that have owned or still own a BMW who are looking to replace it with the 2015 Mustang.
Lol, not sure why you thought I was a BMW owner from my post, but I am! I love my 328 and will miss it, but dollar for dollar and bang for the buck the S550 was an easy choice for me. The above list speaks volumes(just in this thread alone!)...wow:eyebulge:

Yea, I was. The 335 and the ecoboost share very similar #'s. I'm hoping and thinking I'll have a 'made in America 335' in a few weeks.:usa:

That makes at least fifteen of us that have owned or still own a BMW who are looking to replace it with the 2015 Mustang. This group also includes those that have been looking at new cars, haven't purchased yet, but are cross shopping BMW and the 2015 Mustang. The names above are just this thread. There are bound to be more (plus lurkers).

It's a damn exodus! It reminds me of the progression I saw of Dodge SRT-4 owners (I have owned two) buying a used BMW 135i.
Lurker here, decided to join cause of this thread have a 2011 335i xdrive coupe and thanks to a not so good experience with Bmw stealership even though I am still under warranty:( I am very interested in the 2015 mustang and also the reviews mentioning m3/m4, e46, and m235i helped too.

A 10 second difference to obtain 130mph. I am still amazed (and disappointed) by those numbers. Once the Ecoboost hits 100mph it seems to be stuck. It takes an extra 7+ seconds to reach 130mph compared to the 335. Not that important in the real world but what the heck is happening there?

Twenty thousand dollars. I guarantee you if you put 20K in parts into an EB PP it will blow the doors off a 335 while parked.

Devils advocate. Spend a grand on that same 335 and smoke the fastest 2015 mustang money can currently buy. Works both ways. That's the appeal of the 335, they could be made ungodly fast for very little $$$
If the numbers posted above are correct, the new mustang has some serious brakes.

A-freaking-men. I've had 3 series of the last 3 generations - E46, E90 and F30. I can tell you without a doubt that with the F30, BMW completely sold out to the focus groups staffed by 20-something year old chicks sipping Frappuccinos. The somewhat heavy but very communicative steering of the E46 & E90 was replaced with an EPS unit that is Camry-light and completely numb. And the suspension is quite soft and at times somewhat pitchy and uncontrolled. And that is WITH the fancy pants Adaptive M dampers. It just doesn't have the buttoned down, go-kart like feel of the E46 or E90.

Add to that the questionable reliability, poorer build quality (my F30 rattles, buzzes and plastic "ticks" like a Mazda3 I used to have) and insanely high prices (a well equipped 335i is nearly $60k), and the S550 looks like the performance car bargain of the century.
I adored my E46. Actually, my MkVI GTI is pretty damned good too but I've got the itch for more power going through the rear wheels though . Considered a F30 and Euro delivery but one test drive just killed that notion. Big, soft, floaty and no steering feel at all.
