So by the end of 17 we had went 7.7's in our 11 Vortech car sold it, 8.6's in our 15 Vortech car and had our 2018 on order.
We started talking with Vortech and Livernois about partnering and running the new NMRA Limited street class for 2018 with our 15 car. When the rules finally rolled out we weren't too fond of them, and Livernois was slammed with customer builds and were behind a bit on our engine which we understood. By then we had gotten the 18 in, first to the 10s, and decided with rules not in our favor, the engine build a little backed up, time to move on from the 15 and sold it to focus on the 10 speed and DI.
I gotta hand it to the guys at Livernois. Dan had promised me an engine, and even with the car was sold, what do you know, a couple months later and Livernois lived up to their promise, and a sweet looking gt350 sleeved shortblock showed up without notice!!!
Being as Livernois stepped up, we felt the only proper thing to do was to step up back and pick up another 11-17 Project car. I loved the color of our 13 boss, i loved the glass roof of our 14 ruby car, so we started looking for a green 13/14 glass roof auto. I could only find one and the dealer wanted nearly 30k (with a 25 retail, lol). So, moved on to my next favorite color we hadn't owned yet which was grabber blue.
Had to head from Ohio to the Sunny State of Florida, but found a new 17 Cali Special in Grabber Blue. Flew down with my youngest to pick her up and drive her home. We flashed a Lund Flex fuel tune in the lot and headed home.
We like to throw a wrap on the cars, but as soon as we do, somehow that makes them "race cars". So, for looks we started with a Cervini's Stalker body kit, and a set of MRR FS06 Wheels with a custom offset to tuck the 315's in enough to drop the car.
Wanting to do something different than we normally do, and showcase other things we offer, I decided no wrap, no bigs and littles, Naturally for me, if it don't go 8's, I don't wanna drive it. But, it seems we have such a solid combo worked out on our Vortech setups, we wanted more to do something different and a little more of a challenge.. So I have a few goals for the car.
So heres the combo.
Livernois 11.5:1 shortblock. Non ported heads with a valve job, pac springs, and ferrea valves. We went with comp stage 3 n/a intake cams, and comp stage 1 n/a exhaust cams. Lockouts are by MMR along with OPG's Sprocket, Chain guides, chains, and tensioner flip bracket.
An Air flow solutions ported gt350 intake manifold and stock throttle body finish off the top of the engine.
As usual, fuel will come via a fore triple pump setup and id1700 injectors.
Suspension is an Airlift Air Ride Kit, substituting Viking B3020AM Crusader rear shocks. The B3020am replace the upper mount and are for 1.5" to 3" lowered cars. We also went with a full Steeda Stop the hop package, rear adjustable camber arms, and a bmr rh017 diff bolt kit. We had planned on one of the Double AA K members we offer, but the way the K mounts, we need 3 more inches of clearance for the turbos. We'll have one of steedas new S550 k members here in a couple weeks, and since it routes more like the stock k member, i think it should work fine.
Wait...did we say turbo's! For the power adder, I opted for a hellion sleeper kit. We upgraded to precision dual 64's, Hellion turbo headers, and a dual loud valve exhuast. That should make for the 12-1300 wheel I feel we'll need to go 8's on 20's on air....
$%&$^%& Am I crazy, 8's on 20's on air. Hasn't even been done on 17's yet. Although were close there one of the customer builds we did for Joe G who's on the forums here has been 9.1's on 17's on air, and we hope to help him to the 8's next trip out!
To handle all the rwhp and torque we'll be putting down, we just rebuilt the 6r80 with exedy clutches, TCS billet shaft, and MSR billet planetary and one way clutch. We do the builds in house, and have been one of the leaders in 6r80 transmissions for the last 8 years. Alot of people forget we actually worked with exedy in the testing and development phase of the clutch packs and we have built a couple hundred of these transmissions. To finish off the trans we are putting in a custom Circle D 252mm converter.
Halfshafts are the newest version of the DSS 2000. Even though it's heavier, with the power we'll be making, i opted for a DSS chromoly driveshaft.
Cold Case just finished up their new radiator for the s550 and we are adding one of those as well. Of course tuning will be handled by John Jr. @ Lund Racing.
For stopping power, we are adding a Baer Big Brake Kit on the front, and a Baer Deep stage Drag Brake Kit 2.0 on the rear!
My partner Brian at Finish Line and his guys have been busy at it the last week and a half and were getting close and should have her fired up next week.
The most important thing for any build we do is to run what we sell, and sell what we run on the cars. Every part on the car is an off the shelf that we offer. I always think that makes it a little more interesting, and a little more fun.
One little snippet was the Plate on the car. Seemed only fitting to get "Project Stalker" a matching plate. So, stalker was available, we signed for it, temp tag for it......Then the letter came.....Denied.......I had a nice talk with a sweet gal at the BMV, she instructed me on how to appeal it, and I filled out a nice letter, along with clippings of what we do, business licenses, etc... and let them know in no way were we out trying to hunt people down....lol. The state did reward us with the plate I wanted allowing us to officially dub the 2017 "Project Stalker"
I'll keep progress updated , but for now, here are some pics to get you guys in the mood. I know your tired of me blabbering here!!!
