This is a curiosity post more than anything.

I'll just go on and say it. When, not if, the MT82 in my car goes bad I will not be replacing it with another MT82. I'm at 35.5k right now and I can already tell the input shaft bearing is making some noise. Not much but definitely some. My last MT82 (yes I swapped one into an 07' GT, don't ask:headbonk:) lost the input shaft bearing as well. Didn't expect a stock 4.6 to blow that up.

Also, just so you understand my convictions, I'd have bought a manual even if they were still using the T5. I just do not like automatics.

I've rented 3 S550 Mustang automatics in the last year so it's not like I haven't had some time behind the wheel with them.

Back on topic. Does anyone know if there has been a swap to the T56 on an EB or if there is any development in that area? Because that's the route I'll need to take one day. Hopefully later than sooner.

Super late to this party and this is my first post in ages, but I recently did a T56 Magnum XL swap on my EcoBoost. It's been going solid since May/ June of 2023

I didn't take many pictures and stuff since this isn't a common swap at all.

Info on the transmission. It's a 2.97 1st gear Tremec T56 Magnum XL that was modified to a GM input shaft diameter since the original diameter is about 0.113" too large to fit in the pilot bearing. The GM type shaft fits perfect and is set up for a dual clutch.

I made a custom driveshaft from a DSS T56 swap shaft I got. The rear pinion flange was too large, so I got a Sonnex adapter and swapped out the original adapter and bearings.

The bellhousing is a QuickTime RM-8089 (Ecoboost to T56) sourced from Summit racing. Also using a 1/4" spacer plate to have zero binding issues with the clutch and a hydraulic throw out bearing from a 2018 Mustang GT. Overall expensive swap, but man oh man, it shifts like butter. Still working out some kinks here and there though.

First is tall as ever. I got up to about 50 at the top of 1st and 70 in 2nd.
Kinda wild to have a usable first gear.

Rear end is the stock 3.55 TORSEN (2018 performance package)

No problem! I may need to draft up a parts list so others can do this too
