For me personally, Sync 3 will have CarPlay/Android Auto which is something I'm interested in.
The only part of Android Auto I'd be interested in is real-time traffic in Google Maps -- Sirius real-time sucks -- but my bigger concern is reliability. My Galaxy S5 reboots itself once or twice a day (better than before the most recent Android update, when it rebooted itself 40 or more times a day -- yes, really; sometimes it would reboot itself thirty seconds after the last reboot). I want my car system to be more stable and reliable than my phone, and not to get slow and buggy after four or five years of use.

Something's wrong with your phone at that point. Have you tried a factory reset since it upgraded to android 5? I know it's a pain to set everything back up again but it can definitely help with issues like that. If that doesn't help, I'd try to have it exchanged if possible

It's already been swapped out on a 2013 Taurus, it'll be possible fairly easily at some point. Probably won't be cheap, but if you think taking a depreciation hit and buying a new car is cheaper you're nuts. It's not like the whole shape of the dash changed.

Got a link for that swap?

Assuming the CAN hasn't changed with the new Sync, it would be possible, but expensive and a fair amount of work. Officially, I believe it's not possible, which is Ford telling you if you do the swap, don't come for warranty work on the infotainment system.
I haven't lived with MFT for a week yet, but it's not the monster that some make it out to be. The screen is a very good resistive touch screen which is not what people are used to with capacitive screens on just about everything. However, in practical use I find it works well as I can touch the screen without pressing a soft button until I actually press the screen. To each their own... I'm still in the windows down, let me hear that exhaust phase. Everyone has a radio, but not everyone has a smile inducing exhaust note.

Posted a couple days ago. There's some work to do on the CAN side, but I don't see how trading would be cheaper.

Thanks for the link.
I was hoping that it would be more detailed than that. I think I'll keep an eye out and see how things really are when its officially out in the world. Especially skinning the UI to not look so washed out. Right now the speaker quality bothers me WAY more than the interface.

The pic in that SHO looks like the display background is dark and not light like other pics and videos have shown, so there may be some sort of option to change the color scheme.

That was my dilemma. Not sure if I'll get it done quickly, but I am working up integrating a 7 band EQ into my stock radio/amp setup. I have new speakers but the Sync 2 EQ is crap, just can't tune it to make the speakers really shine, and I know they sound good on a proper setup.

Once I finally get this worked out, the EQ integration can be done for under $200 without cutting harnesses and only minor work required in the car (plugging harnesses, mounting, running a power and ground). Should be a simple inexpensive operation.

Cheaper than moving to Sync 3 if sound quality is your main concern.

That post doesn't really have much detail in it... And talking about the depreciation hit thing, I would imagine that doing a proper swap to Sync3 -- with everything working, so you can control the climate-control and phone and everything from the touch screen, and all of the sound overrides work, and backup cameras and crosstraffic alerts and everything -- would run you at least $5,000.

Doubt it, MyFord Touch Modules are <$1000 through Ford Parts, I highly doubt SYNC 3 will be much more if at all more. I believe the CAN configuration was mentioned for the 2010 Taurus, which didn't have MyFord Touch. It'll likely be an easy swap, I'll be looking into it as soon as the modules are available to buy and let you guys know.

Definitely keeping my eyes on this, as it's something I've been wondering myself. I probably won't be able to afford a new Mustang when I'm ready to buy later this year, so would probably look to get a used one. But sure would like to have car play/android auto!

I agree, I seriously doubt it will be that hard. I'll be watching out to see what you find out.

I went from a 200hp civic to a 2015 5.0 premium with track pack, I couldn't care less about the difference from the current system to sync 3. It's already far more advanced from what i'm used to. Touch screen sucks ass regardless. I opt to use the buttons 90% of the time.

I'm willing to bet that there will probably be about as many people that will hate the sync3 for whatever reason(s) as much as the people who hate sync2.

I have a hunch the people who are waiting solely for the sync3 setup are most likely the types that are so nitpicky, nothing will satisfy them.
