Hi,

Sorry for double posting this, but I'm having a problem getting Sync 3 on my 2016 Mustang to recognize music folders and playlists on my USB thumbdrive.

When I select USB as my music source, it compiles all the music into one list making navigating and sorting impossible.

I've tried looking at the manual and online resources but I haven't found a solution yet. Has anyone run into a similar issue?

I don't think it does play list. It just goes though all the files and sort them by categories.

Hmm, it sounds like your music files don't have meta-data/tags. When the HU creates the organization of albums, artists, etc., it doesn't do it based on a filesystem structure, it's based on the meta-data.

Assuming you're using MP3s, they should have tags for album, artist, song, song number / total songs. I drop music onto a 16GB USB drive all that time, and with correct meta-data, it gets organized as I'd expect (I don't even bother with folder structures).

The Sync 3 system definitely recognizes playlists on iOS devices, I guess I'd have to see what it does with a playlist on a flash drive.

I just bought a 16 with Sync 3 and it won't recognize my Zune HD when plugged in to USB. It says incompatible device. I test drove a 15 and plugged the Zune HD in it worked fine. Any solutions?

I have all my meta-data included so I see all that stuff when a song is playing, including album art. But I can only navigate my music as one big honking list and when you have a 120gb thumbdrive thats a problem.

Just to confirm, I'll drop some songs on a USB flash drive and see if it indexes as expected, now I'm not even sure :D I generally use a flash drive for a quick set of driving tunes, so I just play them straight through.

Of course, if I connection my iPhone, I get the full UI for navigation across all the meta categories, playlists, even my podcasts.

Make sure the HU is on the latest firmware, same for the Zune. If the media interface (from a software level) isn't compliant, maybe you can just use the Zune in "storage mode"[?]

I have no experience to base this theory off of. But the '15 head unit was made by Microsoft. The '16 unit is made by blackberry. This may be why it doesn't work.
