Sway bar end links

I have a question I haven’t been able to find an answer for. So the struts and coilovers all have two holes, one on each side, that the sway bar end links can bolt to. Every install video I’ve seen shows them bolted to the hole closer to the back of the car. That’s how it is from factory as well. Is it okay to use the front hole or is that just there so the struts or coilovers can be used on either side?
