Ordered a stage 2 whipple this Black Friday what supporting mods do you guys suggest. I am definitely knocking out the opg/crank sprocket during install. What else is mandatory, I know the drive shaft and axles should be upgraded but is it safe to hold off on them until they go bad? Is it safe to drive without upgrading the axles or driveshaft?

It's safe. I know Cory S was running the stock driveshaft at of 800whp. DSS sales rep was trying to sell him on their aluminum shaft that was rated "all the way up to 700 HP". He said welp, I guess the stock 2 piece is rated for higher then. As far as the half shafts, what is you intended use, street, or drag strip? Roll racing lots of hits from a dig?

Hard to answer without knowing how you use the car. Auto? Stick? 93 or e85? If just a street car, you will be traction limited and will not have to worry about axles or a driveshaft, but stock up on some tires. 😁

I am running the whipple tune to start off. So far I’m set on doing the whipple install and the oil pump gears. My intended use is the street honestly just for fun. I don’t intend to race much at all maybe just step on it every now and then but wanna have a fun car that I can enjoy for myself. What happens if the driveshaft does end up failing or axle fails? Does the car just make a wierd noice or something and I need a tow? I’m new to this and kinda just worried the thing will go bad and flip the car or some shit lol

It is a street car and I’ll be on 93 for the foreseeable future. I don’t really plan on racing or anything much just gonna take it easy and step on it now and then to have some fun. What does happen say worse case scenario axles or driveshaft fail? Will the car just make a wierd noice and I stop and pullover and tow or is it actually dangerous like the car flipping or some shit?

It's POSSIBLE if the driveshaft went bad it could act like a pogo stick and flip the car, but it's not going to. The real limiting factor on the street is the tires. If you run the Whipple calibration you will more than likely not see more than 650whp. Don't get me wrong, after 400whp, 650 is A LOT of fun, but on street tires you are going to break traction before you break the axles/half shafts or the drive shaft. If you want some piece of mind and have money burning a hole in your pocket, by all means, go QA! driveshaft and get some high end 1400hp half shafts or at least upgrade to the GT350 half shafts, but I don't think it's really a NEED on a street car that you are going to be rolling on a non-prepped surface and not putting much strain on it. If you have a manual, you ARE going to want to upgrade the clutch to a McLeod RXT, Mantic, or a Vengeance Stage 2 at least.

If it does break is the pogo stick scenario a low chance and much more likely I’ll just hear some type of wierd noice and pullover? I don’t have money to burn lol I’m really tight on budget and slowly building as I go. On the same hand I’m not looking to get flipped either

You'll know if the driveshaft breaks. Loud bang and lots of clunking as it's flying around broken under the car. The car will be undriveable. Never seen or known anyone to have the pogo stick type problem, but that's why you're required to have a driveshaft safety loop for any type of racing on a sticky tire on a prepped surface. I've seen many driveshafts break at the dragstrip. But again, if your plans are just street driving on street tires, it's a NON ISSUE.

#1 thing is to make sure you have good quality 93 octane in the car, ALWAYS. One tank of shit gas and you're messing around could be a very bad day.

Low chance. You aren't going to break the drive shaft doing what you are doing with it.

I get on mine pretty hard (no racing) and I haven't upgraded the driveshaft or the axles. I am thinking if it isn't broken, then it doesn't need fixing.....in my case. I am thinking of a Vegenance or Lethal clutch, but not yet getting any slippage, so that is just at the top of the list for now. I've been supercharged since new and at 30k now.

I have the Roush Phase 2. I changed to the MGW short throw shifter and no issues.

I had a Mustang shop install. I think I paid around $200. It took them about 2-3 hours.

U installed the mgw 2 yourself? If it was a manic how much was labor?
