If you aren't going to beat on it/raise the rev limiter to the moon I'd leave the OPG/crank gear alone. Is that common? What's easier on the engine a pro charger or a Whipple? If that fails isn't it a new engine? When do thee things become an issue?
From what I've read it's not a common problem, and like I said before a good tune with detonation control is key to those parts lasting. I'm getting Whipple becuase they have the most advanced safety measures built into their tune. Power is important but, safety and engine durability is key and Whipple has a ton of R&D with this motor now. They also have their own in house Ford calibration engineer which to me means they really have full control of the PCM calibration. Is that common? I'd 2nd that, OE ones are pretty lame IMO. Recommend you get either BRM or Steeda ones.Get the BMR vertical links too. They help a lot. The stock ones are a joke.
Is the stock driveshaft safe If you plan on taking it to the track a couple times a year?we have guys that do nothing else to the car
some add oil pump gears
some add half shafts / ds, etc..
best thing is to pick out a budget and we can put a package together for you
