Supercharger for the '15 GT

Its early in the morning and I havent had my coffee but I thought Ford racing already announced the Whipple supercharger that was going to be 700+hp with full 5 year and 100k mile coverage...

Key word for that warranty: "optional"

Has to be installed by a "Whipple Top Tier Installer"... whatever that means.

But all in all, not really too bad a price for 5 years of coverage. Per the link, they have lower tiers as well.

But I wonder how good they are about honoring the warranty? Would like to read the fine print (which I can't seem to find)...

I have had my Lightning for 8 years and it is my daily driver. I have filled up the silencer holes under the blower which made the whine about 30% louder. I won't be getting a new Mustang until Summer 2016 but I am sure I am going to miss the whine. I might have to get a blower for my 3rd anniversary.

I usually try to get at least a blower for my anniversary every year too... ;)

Yeah it is weird. The only thing I want on my anniversary or birthday is the only thing she doesn't want for her birthday.

roush associate was at my dealer today when i was changing some options around.

said they are trying to get CARB certified by august so they have one ready by october november. also stated that it should have around 600ish hp

Cool. I was actually thinking about how much HP the Roush blower would put out on the new 5.0. I believe the last version was 575 HP (base kit) for a 155 HP boost over 420 stock. Keep that same 155 HP boost and subtract that from 600 HP you get 445 HP in stock form.

Now just to come into some more money to help Roush out. ;)

DOB is looking to produce a lower cost positive displacement supercharger kit. I suspect that nothing will make production for a year or so.

That's good to hear, as IMO, prices for some of these kits have gotten a bit out of hand.

I don't know anything about DOB...Will this be Roots, twin screw or centrifugal?

DOB= Department of Boost. They specialize in making blower kits that utilize the stock GT500 Eaton blower on the regular GT engine to minimize costs. They will use a PD blower and could probably be upgraded to a TVS or twin screw but that would negate the cost benefit.
