Supercharger and Snow, is it doable?

First post. Didnt want to thread jack the other supercharger thread and havnt seen another thread about snow and superchargers in my research.

Anyone DD their Supercharged Mustang in the Winter and specifically in the snow? I'm hoping with a good set of snow tires and turning the power down(winter tune/flight control+snow/wet mode) the car will handle light snow. I have zero experience with a FI car at this power level but not a complete noob to snow driving with a fast car. I've learned that foot control and good tires do wonders for the conditions you can drive in but would like to find someone with some experience.

This will be my first Mustang since trying to restore a 68 coupe I pulled out of a junk yard 15years ago so be gentle . Thanks!

youll be fine, however a positive displacement blower would be difficult with it building boost faster than a centrifugal

You will be fine. Though I haven't personally driven my car in the snow. The car drives completely like stock unless you put your foot in it. Then add in snow/wet mode and pulling power through the flight control it will be overkill.

Couple sand bags in the trunk and going easy on the gas isn't bad

750 RWHP Whipple, no issues in 2 Massachusetts winters, just use snow/wet mode.

I can say that I daily drove a supercharged mustang here in KC snow for about 5 years, until I finally bought a truck.

2 sand bags,
1 pair of "all seasons" on the front
1 pair of "cheapest snow tires I could find on the net" out back

I used the bags, and the same tires (mounted on junk wheels) for all 5 years.
I bet my total investment was about $600 bucks.


Never missed a day of work, or had an issue.



NOTE: I would laugh at guys/gals in 4x4 SUV's that had "summer" tires on them, spinning all 4 wheels like they were on ice. While I went right by in my lowered stang.

On my last GT, I threw 4x 50lb bags of cat litter in the trunk ( 2 molded to each wheel well) and had a pair of nokian studded tires on the back, with the factory all seasons up front. I would be able to come to complete stops on hills and start back up again without too much trouble. A little white knuckled driving at times..yes, but I never did get stuck, even when driving through 6 inches of snow.

I find it amusing that people think that a PD blower goes into boost just idling, haha. Who can afford a supercharged GT and not a couple grand worth of winter car though? That one I'll never understand.

its not so much people cant afford a beater car for a couple grand its more or less they just don't want to or have the space.

Purchased Nokian Hakkapalita snow tires and they worked great last winter here in the D.C. Area.

Fair enough for those cases. I do have a friend who drove his 2010 M3 year round in PA because "his wife wouldn't let him buy another car" so I guess that one can be added to the list.

I used to do the "beaters" for winter.
But then I just finally said screw it, and started daily driving a 4x4 truck.
Now having 4 doors, a bed, and ProCharger... I can't imagine replacing it with anything else. LOL.
Literally the longest ownership of any daily driver I have ever had, but half a decade.
