Hey guys,

Currently running the set up in the tittle with Rousch Axle Backs. I loved how the car sounded with cats, stock res, and these axle backs. Once I went forced induction, i decided to get rid of the cats and the car was absolutely ridiculously loud. Installed the magna flow tru-x and am much happier with the volume, but now to me the exhaust sounds like its going through two trumpets.... Also seems to have some drone on the highway at cruising speeds that I'd would be great to get rid of but wouldn't be the end of the world if it stays.

Any suggestions on what to run instead to keep a similar volume but now sound like a marching band when going WOT?

Isn’t that the highly restrictive mid X ?
Try a H-pipe with two side x side long bottle resonators. Make sure the H crossover is as large as possible.
Anyone ever dyno test that thing?

at around 950 whp, we picked up 5 MPH by removing it at the track......it necks down to a single 2-1/2" pipe for ~5 inches internally

I recommend a 3” jones mid-muffler with built-in x and corsa touring mufflers. It’s very free flowing, not that loud, and the tone is great.

The “trumpet” note is what’s killing me on my current set up….

A quick word of caution for anyone who orders the Jones MF24269. @Gregory347 and I had some extensive discussions in the middle of June about this muffler specifically because it was all I used to recommend. He ordered his in the middle of 2022 and it was completely different than what we run on my wifes car when we put it on in 2021.

The Muffler we run is a true 3" with a big, open chamber x section.
The muffler Greg received looks to neck down internally to a 2-3/4 or 2-1/2" internal double Y set up with a 4" SINGLE 2-1/2" section. When he reached out to Jones regarding this big different, they told him they have two suppliers and that apparently this is how they show up now.

So long story short, I'm hesitant to recommend that muffler anymore because I don't know that you'll receive the same muffler that we have.

@Det_Riot I know of two bought last half of 2023 and there both the large open-chamber X design.
Good to know! Hopefully that's all they're supplying again for these because they're the perfect s550 mid muffler
