Here's a video I found of what's inside the suitcase. The res is separated into two chambers. Interesting things:
  • Only one of the tubes is perforated in both chambers,
  • Only one chamber has fiberglass packing -- a chamber within which only one of the tubes is perforated
  • The unpacked chamber has perforations on both pipes, to allow for scavenging, but seemingly less efficiently than a true crossover (X or H)
  • There's no guided tubular crossover like in an H or X pipe.

Thanks for posting! I was kind of curious as to what was inside of the stock resonator!

I'm considering a crossover myself and happened to be researching the same subject as this thread.

Muffler Delete.
Resonator Delete.
Install 28" glasspacks in place of resonator.

Enjoy the compliments, and the $100 exhaust job that sounds better than the $1k nonsense people buy.
The exhaust will then not be connected at all from manifolds back, would that cause any issues?

You mean it'll sound like an old truck. Got it.

I did the MAK cat deletes with an x-pipe and GT500 mufflers which ended up being pretty damn loud. I wanted to tone it down a bit to be more neighbor friendly so I installed the magnaflow tru-x resonator and it made my car so quiet that it was barely louder than stock. It works TOO well.

I ended up removing it almost immediately.

It's connected. I've been running this setup for 3 years and no issues.
Where in the system do the left and right sides connect with that setup? Also do you happen to have any sound clips?

They don't connect.

I don't think I have any clips, because recording it won't sound the same. I can record tonight if you want.
