I've searched the forum and found a few helpful posts and looked on the interwebs to little avail so I wanted to revive this topic. I was discouraged to see the JLA Stealthbox doesn't fit convertibles as I have a TW3 in my Tundra and really like it. Has anyone found a good way to substantially upgrade the low end output and quality in convertibles?

I understand there's a very slight slope where the box would sit, I don't see why you cant simply modify the box to accommodate, looks like a very small change.

Thanks for replying. Are you referring to modifying the JLA box? That would be great if it's possible.

I was staring at photos of the JL box as well. I think the issue is in the top left of the box, The coupe interior goes up into the D pillar, but the convertible obviously doesn't. Anything is possible with modifications, but I don't think it would be worth it (and I'm a woodworker).

I have seen that some people have just replaced the OE driver and amp and reused the housing. I've wanted to try it, but just haven't yet. That's probably the route that I would go... or just say screw it and build a rear firing box in the usual spot.

Thanks for replying. I suppose one could go the custom route and have a fiberglass box made. I had seen others post about replacing the OE driver, but most said they were not overly impressed. Like most, if I'm shelling out money I want to see noticeable results.

I am not sure but I don't think that a stealth box with a 10-W-0 (is that the speaker that fits or is it a w3?) side firing in a sealed trunk is going to cut the mustard either. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. Just my 2 cents and why I haven't done anything yet lol.

The factory sub isn't half bad either.

its fiberglass, I don't see why couldn't just cut and refiberglass lol. but yeah looking at photos doesn't look much difference, too bad you can just heat them up like rubber and shove the box in and let it cool down./mold

The factory sub does give a little bump but I'm an old basshead and need more. The sub in the JLA box is the TW3, which has great low end response and output for a shallow mount (I have one in my Tundra behind the rear seat). There should be plenty of air space for a TW3, I'm just not seeing any box options. But I agree, it's worth doing right.
