Stupid Question Regarding VINs

Hopefully someone can explain - aren't the last 6 digits in the VIN sequential? Wouldn't the sequence be in order of the build date? I ordered my car on 5/22, and was assigned a VIN on 7/22 with the last 5 digits of 05625. I haven't received any dates on the COTUS site, yet I've seen numerous other people here have a higher VIN and received build dates or even have been built. What's up with that?

Although VINs maybe assigned sequentially, the cars are not scheduled or built (very rare if two cars are built with sequential VINs) in sequential order. Several factors play a role in when a vehicle is actually scheduled to be built.

The only sequential VIN's are on the Limited Editions. Every other car does not get a sequential VIN.

Quick question, why did you block out your order number and VIN? Are you afraid someone is going to steal your order?

Some people do not want to be traced back to an online forum in case something comes up later on down the line. Say, you talk about doing a burn out at a car show or post pictures of modifying something a year from now, then another year later your engine explodes. Ford's lawyers could search for your user name, find the post and verify that it's your car and deny warranty coverage because you abused your car. Just an extreme example.
