My son has a hockey tournament in Detroit this weekend. If worthwhile, I wanted to stop into my car's birthplace at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant as I will be staying very close by and it is literally ~200 yards off I-75. I know getting a tour is only a super rare special group event that won't happen. Anyone been there? Worth stopping? Can you get anywhere close?

Worth driving my 350 there (~300 miles) instead of my beater and get pics in front? My dream would be to show up at a change of shift and have some of the workers that manufacture these great cars sign the inside of my trunk lid or something... :ford:

Also, if I can see any 350's, happy to take some recon pictures if any members who may have one on the lot there is interested (especially all those R's rolling out!). I will have my professional 70-300mm hockey lens with me.:coolphotos:

Any input appreciated. Don't want to waste time if no way to see anything...

Man its worth a try you never know, they may give you a quick tour. Sure would be cool if you could meet your engine builders. Make sure you roll up with your window sticker lol.

I'm planning to ask the future wife if we can stop on the way to our honeymoon in Canada. Perhaps I'll be able to catch mine during build! :-)

Since they don't do individual tours, you likely would only get to see what is in the front reception lobby and not beyond. The area where the cars are stored in the main lot is visible off the entrance road, but the recent GT350 thefts would probably put the security people on high alert if you came by with a camera.

It's somewhat difficult to see the people working on the line because you have go to back into the trim area using a walkway that only authorized visitors can access.

In following up, I did stop into the Flat Rock Assembly grounds today on my way back from Detroit. Not many workers there on a Sunday. Security guard saw my car and left me alone to drive around a bit, park, and get a few shots! Sorry for the quality, as to not spook anyone, they were with my cell not my professional lens...

There were not a lot of 350s on the lot. I assume these are the last of the 2016's. I watched the guy in the picture load 3 onto the trailer (very carefully!) and got a shot of the remaining in the lot. There are clearly two R's (with their carbon fiber spoilers protected), one race red, one DIB with stripe deletes. Not sure why the AG is out on its own in the lot??

One cool thing was I did see about 20 drivers testing lights, trunks, etc and taking the S550 Mustangs out for their test drive around the local roads!!! I assume this is the 4 miles or so on our cars at delivery. You can see them driving out in the left of one of the pictures

Attached some shots. Enjoy. For those still waiting, anyone see theirs?

Nice pics...I was in the area last Wedsnesday and took a few pics myself. I got politely asked to leave by the girl working the guard booth into one of the lots after she saw me taking pictures. My car will supposedly be delivered tomorrow or Tuesday.

Thought that DIB with black OTT might be mine as it's awaiting shipment but that one appears to be a tech or base, mine is a track
