Striker plates have rust?

Hi friends checking my car today i noticed that the striker plates have rust on them. Is this normal? Do i change them out? I used 3m rubbing compound and wd40 to remove the rust but couldnt remove it all.
Have you guys check your striker plates?

Mine have little to no rust. But if it makes you feel better a guy in the cosmetics forum found covers that snap onto them to cover up the base.
But in reality you may want to bring it into ford to have them make sure your whole door wont rust in half
