Yes there is no doubt that drag radials will get you down the track quicker but is a half a second on a piece of paper worth $500. I debated this a few years ago and left the $500 in my pocket.
Hard to find many more mods that add that type of performance for the money.

Tune- $750
Big Turbo Kit $3400

IMO tires and suspension are some of the most neglected or improperly purchased items that provide some of the most substantial returns on investment.

For me tires were the difference between a "neat" 12 second EBM and a "DAMN!" 11 second car. And I don't have to worry about the rear end stepping out if I decide to take the on-ramp with a little gusto. My 275 Invos get squirrely just thinking about it.

Lonnie I'll be out there Wednesday with our procharged fox and my GT. Get your butt down here. Air is going to be phenomenal.

OP, I cut 1.81 short times on my stock GTPP pirellis.. I generally start at 20psi and drop a pd per pass if it doesn't hook. I will be at OSW this Wednesday, with my '16, if you want to cruise out.. We'll work on your 60s, if they aren't on par. Nothing wrong with running a street tire.. I'm shooting for 11s on stock trim, before going to a drag set up.

Let's do that! If the weather is good I'll definitely be there. Do it once and you're hooked for life right? If i can pick up just 3 tenths at the start, it'll add up to hopefully 7 tenths at the finish and get me close to that 13.9 goal on the stock Pirelli's.

I was running 24psi. I thought that could be low enough but if you were running 1.81's with 20psi I definitely know where to look to shave some time.

Hey, great job out there and it was a pleasure meeting you. The EgoBoost Mustang is running Cobb/VMP Tuning calibration. We unfortunately have short little tires on it as we await M&H 275/50/17s (28"). With a little hook the car traps enough to give us mid 11s.

Your car looks awesome and by the way, although I was ahead of you, you won. I bumped through the beams as I was bringing it up on the turbo.

So, your driver mod is already growing. You didn't get antsy and jump the gun.

Hope to see you again soon.

Thanks for the support BJ! A few tips go a long way and I'll be back out this week trying to get that 13.9

If the weather holds out, may be at OSW with my car Wednesday night, taking a shot at a low 12/high 11 sec pass.
I'll be there if it holds up too. Looking forward to possibly meeting you :headbang:

Do you have your time slip to post up or 60/et/mph?

I'm damn sure going to try and make it. I'm hoping I can get a few more logs to Adam for some revision work and iron out a few kinks he noticed in the logs from yesterday. I may just leave the DRs at home and see how the street tires work. They held a 1.87 60 at the track rental, so they aren't horrible...lol.

If you are wanting to hit a good time... Bring the DRs if you got em. May have less traction on the hit with the extra power.
I'll bring a jack, if you just want to bring the tires. We'll have our race trailer out there with the fox in it so I'll throw a jack in there.

Ok....I'll have a place to stash my street tires/wheels and not worry about them walking off..lol. If the track is halfway decent, I'm hoping it will hold the 7-8# launch I used yesterday for my 7.88 pass (1/8 mile at Green Cove Springs)...had a 1.66 short time on stock suspension. She just squatted down and hauled ass..lol.

Sounds good. Adam has data logs, so we will see what he does. Just hope the weather cooperates...40% chance of rain in the forecast during the afternoon, then clear at night.

Yeah weather channel is showing 40% but weather bug and accuweather are showing 0-5%. So who knows. I'll be there regardless.

On street tires you start at 20 and drop? This is just bad advice.

Would you recommend staying above 20 on stock tires? Granted this is kind of all just trial and error

Yeah I must not have a clue what I'm doing.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. But that's all it is.. Your opinion.

Absolutely. There is no use going that low, that is not opinion, that is fact. I don't even run that low in my drag radials and they cut 1.5's at 22-24 psi.

I went 1.8's all day with 31PSI in my Nitto Invo's.

A street tire is not designed or efficient enough to run at that low of pressure. You shouldn't expect DR 60's from a street tire so why would you try to run a street tire at DR pressures?

And how did your pirellis fair? I'll commend a 1.8 at 31psi.

My car is pretty damn efficient at 20psi on my street tires.

I'd love to see the data that backs what your claiming.

Edit: Never trying to start a pissing match.. I just don't see the point in discrediting someone, and telling them what works for them is wrong.. If it works, it works.. All the data I need.
