a bap is good if your running pump or race gas, for e85 you'll need a fuel system

Read a couple times in this forum guys are commenting that the stock coyote engine will handle up to 900hp. This seems extreme for a stock engine if you ask me. Could we see what your HP/TQ numbers are STOCK blocks only and how many miles.

The transmission is good up to 1000 HP not the 5.0 block

OP should clarify, because he really asked 2 questions, one about stock block and then rephrased implying stock long block.

Most conservative estimate place the overall long block reliability
at ~600-650 RWHP (750 crank)

Note this incorrectly referenced the cast rods:

Here is the TB they upgraded to the sinter forged rods from the BOSS, plus improved piston cooling:

If its a gen 2, perhaps slightly more?

Is a BAP (boost-a-pump) needed in all cases when going FI?
yes. if youre going ethanol, fuel system is required just because more fuel is required.

The weak link is the connecting rods, after that it is the pistons, like most, we would place a safe limit of about 650 if properly tuned. Also, as many other have also noted the MMR OPG and Crank Gear is HIGHLY Recommended!! Let us know if we can help, we have forged shortblocks starting at $4799 that will take the reliability limit up to 900 RWHP and have shortblocks that go as high as 3500HP!

So the forged Sinter connecting rods are not any good? I thought the pistons were the weak link of the rotating assembly? Interested in that short block.

Hmm seems a stretch.

I edited. Thanks for the links.

Beefcake supplied me with the Fore fueling setup. Need to see if Beefcake can get a smoking deal on a short block.

Seems a stretch because of the 1000's of failures of the OPG/CSS that we've seen? Because there are 1000's of FI coyotes with no OPG/CSS issues. Do they fail sometimes? Sure. But so do lots of things. I've seen two on this site.

I think he was saying that the "900" wheel HP was a stretch for the average stock limitation. I think we can all agree that 900 RWHP for a stock block is A LOT.

Exactly. At the crankshaft yea. That would net 780hp?

For a daily driver sure it is. For a couple passes or dyno runs, maybe not? I thought he was emphasizing the opg/css part. My bad!

Don't forget the cylinder walls. Above 1000whp they should probably be sleeved or filled. From what I have heard and seen people have busted a cylinder before throwing a rod. The people I have heard of throwing rods were turning close to 8K rpm and making over 800whp. At reasonable rpm I haven't heard of too many rod failures. Also remember a lot of these numbers are from supercharged cars so 600whp is more like 700whp on a turbo car.

750whp should be around 850-870ish'CHP I guess depending on manual/auto.

This makes me wonder if anyone has done an engine dunk versus rwhp in an s550 to actually see?
