Alright guys, while I'm waiting for my car build project to finally go down I am currently playing around with what is currently on the car which is CPE IC and Cobb OTS tune. Now..here is my dilemma. Cobb recommended stg 2 requirement is CAI and IC. Now I know there has been tons of debate on the effectiveness of aftermarket CAI vs stock CAI. So my question is really simple. Is a CAI really required to run cobb ots stg 2 safely. From my logging I see that when running stg2 93 with just the IC the timing correction goes into negative always on wot. However, when running stg1 tune the timing correction doesn't really go into the negative too much or none at all. I'm guessing this has to do with more aggressive timing curve vs the 2 file or is it really because a CAI is really required? Any clarification would be much appreciated!

It's been HOT here in MD also. Very very hot. Almost 90F.

I'm in the same boat. The Temps have gone up and my timing has gone into the negative. Keeping putting off adams tune (I got bills man) but I think I'm gonna just gonna have to do it to it here in the next week or so. My timing was off today -2.55 in cylinder 1 and 3 and then for a slight second my boost hit 26.03 which I don't think is normal but I could be wrong.

You should only be running Cobb's tune if you are using Cobb's products. Their tunes are catered to their products only. If you are running any other product you should be looking at a custom tune.

Everyone that has ran the Cobb OTS stage 2 and stage 3 complained that stage 1 has more power. That is because they have specific changes made for THEIR products. I just tuned a customer running Cobb Stage 3 with NON-Cobb parts and his boost was only at 17psi. Another customer was running Cobb Stage 3 Hardparts and Tune and it was at 23psi and looked great.

There is a difference.

Adam is right. I tried the Cobb OTS maps hoping it might add power, it just reduced it. I got a free tune from map supposedly specific to the mods I have because they asked for all that when I emailed them for the tune. It's BS they just copied a OTS map because the car acted EXACTLY the same as the cobb tune. So I was pretty pissed off about that. I will be getting my custom tune through Adam to fully utilized the exact parts I have.

Most definitely I agree on custom tune. I'm just waiting for all parts to come in before I finally contact you Adam ; -) but in meantime it's really hard trying to stay away from my ebm lol. So basically what you are saying is if I want to play around with Cobb OTS tune I should follow their recommendations and product line requirements? including specific brand of choice which is all Cobb? Regardless, I think I'm just going to stay with their stg1 just to be safe until it's time to get your custom time in.

Add me to the list of non cobb intake and fmic and the stage 1 was faster than 2. Now Adam tuned and much better!
