Steeda spring install ?

After the test ride, the one spring that almost lined up right was off the bottom perch. Has me a little worried, and may swing by a shop with a wall mounted spring compressor to have them re-do it to see if they have similar results. If so these can go back to steeda.

i just got a set of ultralites for mine and im having the same problem.
the strut mount do not fit all the way in the top of the spring. :frusty:

For those who have installed Steeda springs, which way is up on the springs? Is the word steeda suppose to be up or down?

the first 2 are with the steeda lettering face up like it says in install guide. second 2 are pics of it with lettering upside down and installed on the strut that way. sorry pic heavy.

Hey guys the springs only sit flush with the strut mount one way, it's okay if the logo is upside down for this to happen. I'm going to talk to one of our techs to include any additional detail and update the instructions if needed. I can understand wanting the logo to be right side up and how that could be a little confusing if it fits best with it upside down.

is it just me... or is the OP trying to install the rear springs on the front struts?

on my Steedas... the fronts are 5-3/8"(136.5mm) OD and 4"(101.6mm) ID either end, exactly the same.

Whoa, which tech are you referring to? Feel free to pm me if need be. Also, did you take up my offer to coordinate a support call between you and someone from Steeda to assist with the installation? I didn't hear anything back from you once I offered a week or two ago. Literally hundreds of customers have installed these without issue, so if you have any additional questions, like I said we are more than happy to assist and get you back on the road.

The linear steeda's are what seems to be the problem. David@steeda, you didn't hear back from me because I had already called and talked to one of your techs, don't remember a name (I am bad with names), and used your messaging system on your website as well after that. They both said the instructions were what I should go buy, they are right. I will be trying it one more time, and will ask to speak to you directly if I need anything else.

I too had problems with the progressive spring install. Per the instructions giving with the springs, the larger dia opening of the spring goes down on the strut perch. Now after fighting with this for 4 hours on a sunday, I had to put the stock springs back on. There was no way in hell the strut cap was going to sit in the smaller spring opening. I called Steeda on that Monday, and they reaffirmed that the larger dia opening went down. I ended up taking them to my local dealership who has installed Steeda spring kits. They installed them with the larger dia opening facing up. This was/is the only way to install the strut cap in the spring. The larger inside dia was 4" and the smaller dia was 3.5". The outside dia of the strut cap was almost 3.77". Now I don't know if it is only a few of these progressive spring ending up this way.. I don't see a problem if they are installed with the word Steeda upside down as long as they sit flush with the strut perch and top cap. Just my 2 cents.

Dammit, I have these sitting in my front room waiting for install. I was going to do the install but now I'm questioning these springs period. It seems like no one (including steeda) knows how to install these springs or give a for sure NON pain in the ass installation for these. My front springs appear to have the larger diameter in the middle and a smaller diameter on both ends and the rears are one continuous diameter (progressives, part number 555-8210). I also have the race differential bushing insert kit 555-4440 sitting here waiting for better/clearer instructions from steeda, not to mention my shifter base bushing bracket is still on back order. I would just be EXTREMEMLY happy if someone, anyone could post some FOR SURE installation instructions (that are correct) before more of us, including myself get our cars torn apart and end up stuck with front springs that we cant get installed in our garage with the correct tools so I don't have to go pay some shop to much $$ to do it. Frustrating....
