Question. Staying at or around 450-470RWHP are the standard 10.9 sufficient for drag racing and launching or would the 12.9 be a better option for peace of mind?

Yes, I would like to know this also. I am a bolt on only car (high 11sec car) with manual transmission that runs at the track once a month on slicks and have the standard kit with the 10.9 hardware. I believe reading previously that the setup was perfectly fine and should not run into any issues. Is this still the case or has additional testing proved otherwise?

Yes,10.9 is sufficient for anything under 750 RWHP. Again, we have run the 10.9 kit on much higher HP cars with no problem. Melissa Urist and Lowel Smith for example with 1.30 short times running in the 8 second range! We introduced the kit 03/18/2015 and have sold over 1500 kits to date!

No, customers wanted the option to upgrade to stronger bolts on the higher HP applications. So we listen.

So running slicks on a high 11sec bolt on manual car should be fine with the standard 10.9 bolts?

Yes, as long as the bolts are installed and torqued properly.

I noticed these are allen head bolts.... how in the world do you get an allen key on the front diff bolt? The was barely enough room to get a ratcheting wrench up there.

Pretty much have to drop the entire subframe. Also good luck using a torque wrench on it. I gave up and switched to the BMR version with the upgraded through bolts front and rear. Takes a little more work and some modification to the differential housing, but it takes the stress off the bolt threads and onto the shank of the bolt. Much more robust IMHO.

The front allen bolts go in fairly easy and get torqued to only to 35 ft/bs.

Techs with experience can get pretty close to 35 ft/lbs by feel.

Also, you can use a crows foot on the allen wrench when using a torque wrench.
