So I'm ready for some more power, pp1 is good but just not cutting it.
I've been reading lots of reviews on CAI and tunes, also I've called Ford Performance, Steeda, Livernois, and Lund distributors to ask many questions.
It gets very muddy and confusing on who's the safest and best to go with.
I think I've narrowed it down to Livernois and Steeda, I like talking directly to the maker and lifetime relationship.
Livernois claims 60hp and Steeda 30hp, what a difference!

I like the power of the Livernois but do not like that I need to change the thermostat and I'm a bit concerned about having to retune if I can't find 93 octane around when on a road trip.
Steeda tune is good for 91 and over and they seem like they don't take the timing too far where knock could happen on a bad tank of gas.
Steeda also says they sell the pp2 and have done side by side dyno and their's produces more power

So, my question is what do you guys think, has anyone tried the Steeda ProFlow Ultimate Induction Power Pack?
Keep in mind I'm not racing, just want some more power.

Thanks

Looks like the Steeda induction pack is just their intake and a tune with a SCT handheld unit

The steeda intake is the second highest flowing intake behind every PMAS intake though, so it's not the worst intake you can get and should see good gains from it as well.

I just bought an nguage but was going to do this pack. It goes for sub $700 when on sale and the steeda tune is a safe warm over compared to some others.

To me that is fine as on my 2007 i went with a tune that caused ping and the tuner could never get it right. after much back and forth he sent me one that was basically a nothing tune. I later found out they went out of business. I wonder why when they could not get a simple CAI tune right.

I know how that is as I had nothing but issues with my 2001 Gt tune and was always trying to get it right, very frustrating.
$692 shipped for the steeda, not too bad!

Happy to help with your order or any questions that you may have - the Steeda CAI is an awesome unit ... with our industry-leading and technically-advanced velocity stack & our precision CNC mass air housing provides the cleanest mass air signal on the market.

You won't be disappointed in the quality & fit of the Steeda unit & combined with the Steeda tune, you are in great shape!

Shoot me a note at [email protected] for additional support.

Best Regards,

Thanks Tim,
But can you tell me why you guys aren't getting as much power as Livernois claims?

It's just a claim and I haven't seen it proven. They are playing with t-stat in lowering min temp of the engine and crank timing up. But that going to be short lived after getting on it hard because it will pull timing back after temp comes up. Works great for drag racing at the track.

I had Steeda's Ultimate Induction Power Pack. I could tell a difference after I installed it, and the tune never missed a beat. Smooth, no issues throughout the RPM range, and idled perfectly. You definitely can't go wrong with it. Super customer service, too.

First rule in modding is take every manufacturers claims with a grain of salt.;)

Thanks WhiteyDog,
Did you switch to Lund because it wasn't enough?

No, I liked how the car performed. I switched to Lund when I went with a GT350 IM because Steeda didn't have a tune for it. (Maybe that changed). Now since adding a supercharger, I stayed with Lund. Not sure if Steeda has a tune for superchargers.

Yes, with over 28 years of experience, we have found a certain safety level that we write our tunes too. Our tunes are written to be safe, reliable & powerful - without causing harm to a customer's investment.

Sure, there are other tuners out there that will yield more power & write their tunes with the most HP in mind ... but we found the extra couple HP isn't worth the potential risk.

TJ

Tim, has Steeda Dyno'd the ford pp2 and proflow power pack? If so which produced more power throughout the rpm range, any graphs?

Hey guys, I ended up ordering the Steeda ProFlow Power Pack. In the end, Steeda's Reputation won me over. Also the $690 price for this Pack sets me up with the equipment I need for a custom dyno tune later or manifold and header upgrades in the future.
I'll report back with how it feels over the PP1 once installed.
Thanks again for the input
