I was replacing the splash shield/giant mudflap on my wifes 2016. In the process I saw the Steeda control arms have some (probably) surface rust on them. Is this normal?

They are the PP Style without the extended ball joint. Basically a upgrade from the base v6 ones, that sucked. These made a huge improvement functionality wise. Highly recommended if you have a stock suspension and not a PP.

Im in NE Florida and about 45 min from the beach and not in a Flood zone.

If everything else looks clean then I'd say it's not normal Ford quality spec buy probably normal for steeda you should ask them.

Looks normal to me. I’m quite sure Steeda just takes ford parts, removes the bushing and installs a bearing.

All steeda's powder coating sucks. Cheaply done. They will make 1000 excuses about it, but in the end, quality part yes, POWDERCOATING = JUNK!!

P.S. You can live in Arizona and they will blame it on salt that was dropped 10 years ago if there was a snowstorm lol be prepared. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I have the same ones from Steeda, and they look similar. By the way, these aren’t actually made by Steeda - they just resell Moog parts. I also paid the "Steeda tax" and got annoyed when I later found the same parts on RockAuto for much cheaper lol.

Sorry to soap box it here... Everyone wants to point out that they can tell who made who's products for them. The premise is that Steeda should be mining iron ore themselves or else they're just ripping people off. If Steeda went to an existing manufacturer to have something made, they have a design, they have a choice of which manufacturer and to what standard. If they ask someone to make a control arm and put Steeda on it and you decide to buy it, that's the value that that product has to you. I mean, I don't get mad at the gas station for not drilling the oil and refining it, they buy it and then I buy it. If a cast suspension product gets some surface rust after use, I don't know if I would call it a failure of the coating, I would call that normal wear from normal use.
Sry sry, end rant (not sponsored by Steeda or anyone else lol)

...also, those look like they're doing pretty good. My front bumper and hood get sandblasted daily on the road, I assume some susp compenents up front do too, I don't think there's a coating that could withstand the sand blast that our cars put up with long term.

That's considered normal wear and tear. As others have pointed out, it's a part we customize to our specifications, and not every component of that product is manufactured by Steeda.

Best,

Steeda is not making excuses, just sharing the facts. We have many satisfied customers with their Steeda parts. Unfortunately, with the manufacturing and sale of hundreds of thousands of parts, it's impossible to satisfy everyone. 99.999% are happy, but it's the 0.001% who are unhappy that often voice their opinions in every thread.

Have a great night :)

Normal, no. Par for the course for Steeda parts? Yes.
That's not entirely accurate. As mentioned, we're at the top of the leaderboard for S550 support and the number of parts available in the marketplace. We consistently operate well above industry standards when it comes to quality.
