I called my water utility and they said while the outside watering restrictions are still in effect I am legally allowed to wash my car whenever I want as long as I have a shut off nozzle on the hose.

Yeah I guess that is the "open hose" restriction. Just hope when i try to do this, they don't ticket me for the other part...excessive run off regulation.

I've used the 2 canister model on wheels for many years now, works great & we have fairly hard (well) water here with high TDS. I ditched the cheapo plastic quick disconnects for brass ones & put in a Y so I could switch to untreated water when needed.

How often you need to change the resin depends on how you use the unit & how hard the incoming water is. Definitely follow the instructions for using a low GPM "fan" spray head/nozzle to limit the flow & increase resin life.

Does it get ALL the water off, though? I am looking for a solution where I don't need to dry the car by hand at all.

99% if your leaf blower is strong enough, even in the cracks which is better than just spotless rinse so it doesn't drip for hours after.

There may be a bead or 2 of water that you touch with a towel to dab dry.

How long does the filter, or whatever it uses last? And what is the cost to replace, refill it?

Like previously stated, really depends on a number of factors like how hard your water is, how much you use versus what you need too etc. Mine lasted all summer with about 1 wash a week on average, but I'm pretty liberal with it.

I also use the left blower. Does a great job, although it takes a little while to dry it. It's rare that any touch up is needed. If so, I just spray some detailing wax on a soft cloth and go over the area. Sometimes there is a little water drip from the side mirrors.

Your results with a leaf blower will greatly vary based upon the protection that you have on your car. My car is coated with carpro cquartz and reload and I can dry the car completely without any towels in a matter of minutes. If you don't have any waxes/coatings/sealants on the car you're going to find that the water will take significantly longer to blow off and will start to dry on the car. So i would recommend some good maintenance products on your paint. Carpro products are the best imo
